Dr. Seema Mital is a Staff Cardiologist & the Head of Cardiovascular Research at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto, and a Senior Scientist at the SickKids Research Institute. She is also the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada & Robert M Freedom Chair of Cardiovascular Science, and the Scientific Co-Lead of the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research. She leads the Cardiac Precision Medicine program at SickKids that leverages genomics, stem cells, AI and digital technology to model disease, test therapies, and implement precision medicine including personalized decision support tools. Dr. Mital established the SickKids Heart Centre Biobank, a multi-centre biorepository for childhood onset heart disease with over 10,000 participants. She leads the ERAPerMed/CIHR funded PROCEED network for Personalized Genomics in congenital heart disease, the multi-centre international Precision Medicine in Cardiomyopathy (PRIMaCY) network, the CIHR-funded multi-centre INSERT-HCM study, co-leads the CIHR-funded Precision Medicine for Heart Failure in the Young (PRIORITY) project of the Canadian Heart Function Alliance, and is a PI on several NIH grants. She is Academic Project Lead for the Genome Canada funded SickKids Precision Child Health Sequencing project that will sequence 10,000 childhood genomes.

Sally Gosbell is an accredited exercise physiologist and researcher at the Heart Centre for Children at Sydney Children's Hospital Network, and is affiliated with The University of Sydney and the Heart Research Institute. Her PhD research focuses on improving health outcomes for children and adults living with congenital heart disease, investigating the effects of structured exercise interventions in children and adults and understanding patient experiences with participation in tailored exercise interventions. Her research integrates clinical exercise physiology with translational cardiovascular research to better understand how tailored physical activity programs can enhance quality of life and reduce secondary health risks in this growing population. She is especially interested in developing evidence-based exercise guidelines, improving access to cardiac rehabilitation services for young people, and bridging the gap between hospital-based care and community exercise programs.

Melanie Clode is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and PhD candidate at the University of Sydney, and a Research Assistant with the Australia and New Zealand Fontan Registry at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Her doctoral research investigates how nutrition influences body composition, metabolic health and long-term outcomes in individuals living with a Fontan circulation. Melanie’s work is among the first to integrate detailed dietary assessment with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and objective metabolic measurement using indirect calorimetry within congenital cardiology services. Through this translational approach, she aims to identify clinically actionable, modifiable nutritional targets in a population at high risk of adverse body composition and lifelong morbidity. Her broader goal is to establish nutrition as a core component of evidence-based, patient-centred Fontan care and to translate research findings into practical strategies that improve lifelong health outcomes.

Tanya is the National Coordinator at the Heart Research Institute for the MRFF-funded grant, ‘An Australian Study of the Outcomes and Burden of Congenital Heart Disease’. This study aims to create a comprehensive profile of Australians living with congenital heart disease (CHD), examining its impact on patients, carers, and the healthcare system. Tanya's experience in groundbreaking cardiac and respiratory studies has fueled her passion for whole-of-life care and understanding the patient journey. By leveraging data linkage, the Clinical Research Group will analyse healthcare utilisation and delivery to identify gaps in care plans and guidelines. This research will contribute to the development of new, evidence-based care strategies for individuals with CHD. Tanya's research interests include utilising data linkage to define future research areas and championing 'consumer-driven' research to deliver impactful, evidence-based healthcare guidelines and strategies.

Gerald is a paediatric cardiology fellow at the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network with an interest in imaging and foetal cardiology

Calum Nicholson has been working with the Heart Research Institute since 2018, and working with the Australia and New Zealand Congenital Heart Disease Registry since 2020. He completed a Master of Health Data Science in 2022 and has been contributing to the Registry's data collection, which is now one of the largest of its type in the world. His research focus seeks to continue to provide world class research data infrastructure for Congenital Heart Disease research and to continue to improve understanding of this important population, and their interaction with the health system.

David is a Cardiologist at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, specialising in adult congenital heart disease and cardiac MRI. He is completing his PhD with a focus on optimising long-term outcomes in people living with a Fontan circulation.

Michael Cheung is the Director of Cardiology at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne. His subspeciality area of interest is in cardiac imaging and assessment of ventricular function and blood flow.

Dr Preeti Choudhary is a consultant cardiologist at Westmead, Blacktown and Auburn hospitals as well as at Westmead Private. She sub-specialises in cardiac MRI and adult congenital heart disease. Dr Choudhary trained at Westmead Hospital and subsequently completed a PhD with the University of Sydney at RPA hospital looking at structural and functional sequelae of non-compaction in congenital heart disease. She completed a cardiac MRI fellowship at CMRS, Sydney and subsequently in adult congenital heart disease and cardiac MRI from 2015-2017 at St Bartholomew’s Heart Centre and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Dr Choudhary has published extensively related to adult congenital heart disease and cardiac MRI. Dr Choudhary currently serves as the Vice-President for ANZCMR. She is affiliated with the University of Sydney.
