Todd C. Villines, MD, FACC, FAHA, MSCCT is the Donald C. Barnes endowed Professor of Cardiology and Vice-Chief of the Cardiology Division at the University of Virginia where he is a cardiologist and researcher with a focus in multimodality cardiovascular imaging and prevention. Dr. Villines is currently the Executive Editor of JACC: Advances, and serves on the editorial boards of JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging and Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging. He is also Past-President of the Society of Cardiovascular CT, immediate-past Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cardiovascular CT, former member of the ACC Board of Governors, and past-Chair of both the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Imaging Section and the ACC Federal Cardiology Section. Dr. Villines has published over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 4 books (as primary editor) and 12 book chapters focused primarily on cardiovascular prevention and atherosclerosis imaging using cardiac CT. Dr. Villines is a Distinguished Graduate from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point) and was a Colonel in the US Army Medical Corps, where he served as the cardiology fellowship Program Director at the Walter Reed Medical Center, was the Cardiology Consultant to the Army Surgeon General, and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Sheran Vasanthakumar is a cardiology imaging fellow at the Victorian Heart Hospital and researcher at the Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute in Melbourne, Australia. His research focuses on advanced coronary plaque phenotyping using coronary CT angiography, with particular interest in plaque composition, calcium density, and imaging biomarkers of cardiovascular risk. His work also explores the role of novel markers for cardiovascular disease risk in women and strategies for improved cardiovascular risk stratification and personalised preventive care

Dr Yiling Situ is Heart Foundation Scholarship recipient and PhD student affiliated with the University of New South Wales, St Vincent's Hospital Sydney, and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. She is passionate about cardiac imaging and is focusing on using advanced cardiac imaging as a non-invasive alternative to traditional endomyocardial biopsy for cardiac allograft rejection surveillance. In particular, her research focuses on advanced imaging techniques and in combination with other non-invasive strategies including donor-derived cell-free DNA analysis.

Dr. Liam Scanlon is a Basic Physician Trainee in Victoria, currently undertaking a dedicated research year while completing a Master of Internal Medicine at the University of Sydney. Combining a prior degree and background in computer science and programming with his clinical training, Dr. Scanlon’s research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and cardiovascular medicine. His current work utilizes advanced machine learning techniques to integrate comprehensive echocardiographic data, predicting long-term outcomes—such as cardiovascular death and new-onset atrial fibrillation—following myocardial infarction. Dr. Scanlon is passionate about leveraging data science to develop personalized, clinically translatable tools that improve risk stratification and patient care.

Annora is a Master of Philosophy student at the University of Western Australia. Having graduated from her Doctor of Medicine Degree in 2024, she is also a Resident Medical Officer at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Annora’s current work includes artificial intelligence-based and non-linear fractal analyses of cardiac imaging parameters, molecular profiling in sarcoidosis, and identification of novel carbon dioxide receptors in patients with heart failure. Outside of her research, Annora enjoys supervising and mentoring medical and undergraduate students interested in research.

Professor Liza Thomas is a Conjoint Professor at Sydney University, Adjunct Professor University of New South Wales. and Clinical Lead for cardiac imaging at Westmead Hospital.
Her research focuses on echocardiography; specific interests include imaging for the assessment of atrial dynamics and function, diastolic function, chemotherapy induced cardiomyopathy, amyloid and Fabry cardiomyopathies and cardiac involvement in metabolic disease and chronic kidney disease.
Professor Thomas is actively involved in undergraduate/postgraduate medical student and sonographer education. She supervises several PhD and Masters students. She is an section editor for Heart, Lung and Circulation and on the editorial board for JACC CV Imaging and JASE. Liza has been invited to present her work at national and international meetings and has published extensively
