Adam is a medical registrar who has completed his Basic Physician Training and is looking to pursue a career in cardiology after undertaking overseas research. He is currently affiliated with the University of Newcastle and particular areas of interest include cardiovascular prevention, heart failure and arrhythmia.

Claudia Cosgrove is an interventional cardiologist with an interest in complex coronary and chronic total occlusion PCI.

Dr Brian Plunkett is an Australian trained Cardiothoracic Surgeon with a special interest in transcatheter valve procedures and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Following the completion of his Royal Australasian College of Surgeons training, he undertook a Mitral Valve Repair fellowship in Edmonton, Canada, followed by successive Harvard Fellowships in Advanced Cardiac Surgery and Transcatheter Structural Heart Procedures. He was awarded the inaugural Michael Davidson Structural Heart Fellowship by the American Thoracic Surgery Foundation, making him one of only a handful of surgeons formally trained in Transcatheter Structural Heart procedures. He is the Director of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital transcatheter valve program and surgical director of the ECMO/MCS program. Dr Plunkett’s areas of specialisation include all transcatheter valve procedures (MitraClip, TriClip, TAVI, TMVI, paravalvular leak closure), aortic valve replacement, mitral and tricuspid valve repair, all-arterial coronary bypass surgery (including OPCAB), atrial fibrillation surgery, and pacemaker, cardiac defibrillator and resynchronisation device implantation.

Adam Nelson MBBS MBA/MPH PhD FRACP is an early career interventional cardiologist and clinical trialist appointed at the Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals, and clinical academic at the University of Adelaide. He is a clinical lead of national and international trials evaluating emerging cardiometabolic therapies and vaccines.

Sanjay Patel is a Staff Interventional Cardiologist and Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital; Head of the Coronary Diseases Group at the Heart Research Institute and Clinical Associate Professor at the Sydney Medical School. He was awarded his MBBS (Hons 1) from the University of Sydney in 2000, completed his advanced cardiology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 2006, and his doctoral studies in 2009, supported by an NHF postgraduate research scholarship. He then undertook postdoctoral studies at Stanford University, while simultaneously training in interventional cardiology at Stanford University Medical Centre (2009–2010), supported by an NHMRC CJ Martin Overseas Fellowship Grant. His research aims to develop novel therapies to target atherosclerosis and its consequences, specifically targeting the inflammation that drives coronary plaque instability. He co-leads multiple NHMRC-funded trials of colchicine in acute coronary syndrome, stroke and Covid-19.
