David Playford is the Professor of Cardiology at the University of Notre Dame where he was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, and coordinates the cardiovascular teaching program. He is founder, Director and Chief Investigator of the National Echo Database Australia (NEDA), the largest echo database in the world linked with mortality. His research interests include valvular heart disease, heart failure, artificial intelligence and pulmonary hypertension. He is the Chief Medical Advisor for Echo IQ, an Australian Stock Exchange (ASX: EIQ) listed cardiac imaging artificial intelligence technology company.

A/Prof Adam Nelson MBBS MBA MPH PhD is an early career cardiologist and clinical trialist dual-appointed to the Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals in addition to the University of Adelaide and Monash Victorian Heart Institute. Adam’s academic and clinical interests are in improving adoption of guidelines through implementation science and evaluating emerging therapies for obesity, dyslipidaemia and diabetes.

Rahul Prabhu is a current resident, academic, and researcher at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is passionate about pursuing a career in cardiology, with interests in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease. His research to date has been focusing on transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

Dr Shawon is a medically trained early-career epidemiologist and Research Fellow at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH), UNSW Sydney, where he leads a research program in real-world evidence for cardiovascular care. With over 12 years of experience in large-scale epidemiological studies using linked administrative health data from Australia, the UK, and Sweden, his work focuses on promoting best-practice care and addressing disparities in healthcare access. He holds a DPhil in Population Health from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Epidemiology from Karolinska Institute, and trained in medicine at Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh. He is an elected Fellow of the UK Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH). He served as Co-Chair of the UNSW Cardiac, Vascular & Metabolic Medicine Early Career Researcher Committee and the Emerging Leaders Committee of the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance (ACvA).

Dr Arunav Thakur is a cardiology advanced trainee based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Orange Health Service.

Dr Kathryn Wales is an Interventional Cardiology Fellow at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney Australia. She completed her Cardiology Advanced Training at the same institution before undertaking subspecialty fellowship training in interventional cardiology this year. Dr Wales has a strong clinical and academic interest in both coronary and structural heart interventions, with a focus on contemporary percutaneous techniques and complex procedures. She has been actively involved in clinical research and has presented her work at national and international cardiology conferences. Through her training and research activities, Dr Wales aims to contribute to the advancement of minimally invasive therapies for cardiovascular disease and to improve outcomes for patients with complex structural and coronary heart conditions.

Maito Yoshioka is a junior doctor at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. He has a broad interest in cardiology and is involved in clinical research examining cardiovascular outcomes and procedural interventions. His interests include cardiac imaging, structural heart disease, and interventional cardiology.
