Biography

Professor Nadarajah Kangaharan is a Cardiologist at Royal Darwin Hospital and NT Cardiac, with over 20 years’ experience in the Northern Territory. As Divisional Medical Director since 2009, he has led initiatives to build a sustainable specialist workforce and improve healthcare access for remote and indigenous communities. He was instrumental in establishing the Integrated Cardiac Services Network. He served as Chair of the Indigenous Council of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (2014–2019). Prof Kangaharan has academic afflictions with Charles Darwin University, Menzies School of Health Research and Flinders University. Prof Kangaharan has been the Clinical lead for the NT’s largest integrated electronic health record project (Acacia) and has driven development of the Integrated Cardiovascular Information System (AURA-ICVIS) and provided leadership and support to TKC which is a flagship clinical decision support tool for patients with cardio-renal-metabolic conditions. He has completed Harvard Medical School’s Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership and Leading Digital Health Transformation in Health Care programs. He is committed to enabling digital health solutions to improve access to care and health outcome for Aboriginal Australians living the remote NT.

Biography

Dr James Otton is a Sydney-based consultant cardiologist and Associate Professor with expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, including cardiac MRI and CT. He holds a Master of Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in early cardiovascular disease detection. He is a clinical faculty member at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
