Biography

Hannah is currently the Heart Failure Stewardship Pharmacist at Monash Health in Melbourne, and has experience at the Victorian Heart Hospital, and previously at Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania. Hannah is passionate about optimising medications for people with cardiovascular disease. She completed her Master of Clinical Pharmacy at Monash University in 2024, which included research into the role of frailty on medication use following myocardial infarction.

Biography

Joshua Bennetts is an early career academic pharmacist who graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2018, completing a Bachelor of Pharmacy with First Class Honours. Joshua completed his internship in community pharmacy and continued gaining experience working as a pharmacist in both community and hospital settings. Joshua is also a credentialed pharmacist who provides domiciliary medication management review services for his community. In 2021, Joshua was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Training scholarship from the University of Newcastle and is currently completing his PhD as part of the Newcastle Centre of Excellence in Cardio-Oncology. His research focusses on pharmacist-led models of care to support people with cardiovascular disease and cancer as they transition between hospital and home. Joshua has published numerous papers and abstracts and has presented his research at both national and international conferences.

Biography

Justine has built her nursing career on providing exceptional cardiac care. She spent 13 years on the hospital frontline, honing her skills as a Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse and educating other nurses in interventional cardiology. She has experience working in CTCA and has supported the integration and growth of team-based care, nurse-led clinics in Western Australia. Over the last 3 years Justine has been involved in Advara HeartCare’s high-impact Clinical Insights group who conduct real world data programs to support patients with cardiovascular disease achieve guideline directed medical therapy, Australia wide.

Biography

Dr Jacqui Pengelly is a senior lecturer and accredited exercise physiologist at La Trobe University in Bundoora, Melbourne. She completed her PhD in 2022 at Swinburne University investigating early resistance training following cardiac surgeries via median sternotomy. Jacqui's research interests include the effects of exercise in the prevention, management and rehabilitation of cardiovascular conditions and metabolic profiles in chronic conditions. As an early career researcher, Jacqui has also supervised ten Masters research projects.

Biography

Gemma has a background in cardiology nursing, having held roles in cardiac rehabilitation and atrial fibrillation risk factor management. More recently Gemma has developed an interest in autonomic dysfunction, including Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Her PhD is focused on the prevalence of POTS in the emergency department and the subsequent impact on the health care system. Gemma's work aims to improve the quality of life and accessibility of health care for those with POTS and other types of autonomic dysfunction.

Biography

Lisa is an early career researcher who is building her track record in research areas related to cardiovascular nursing research, health service re-design, and nurse education in acute and critical care settings. She is passionate about knowledge translation and committed to bridging the ‘know-do’ gap between the best available evidence and clinical practice and improving the short- and long-term outcomes of patients in critical care settings. Lisa’s research so far has made impacts from changing clinical practice to informing policy changes, such as promoting same-day discharge following percutaneous coronary intervention to streamline cardiac services delivery. Lisa has published 24 peer-reviewed journal articles, predominantly in Q1 journals. She is currently working on several research projects in areas of improving cardiac discharge processes and assessing acute care nurses’ competency in electrocardiogram interpretation.

Dr Susie Cartledge is a Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at Monash University School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. She has a longstanding clinical background in cardiac nursing, including ten years on the cardiac ward at the Alfred in Melbourne. Susie holds several leadership positions within the cardiac community including serving on the CSANZ Cardiovacular Nurses Council and state and national positions within the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association (ACRA).
