Dr. Khera is a Cardiologist and Data Scientist and the Director of the Cardiovascular Data Science (CarDS) Lab, which is a multidisciplinary group focusing on data-driven discovery in cardiovascular disease. He is the Clinical Director of the Center for Health Informatics and Analytics at the Yale Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. He is also an Associate Editor for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health at JAMA.
The CarDS Lab, which Dr. Khera leads, is developing and implementing strategies to improve outcomes for patients with or at risk for cardiovascular disease through data-driven innovations in delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. Dr. Khera’s work focuses on novel applications in artificial intelligence to evaluate patient care and develop precision care solutions. His work spans broad digital data sources, including electronic health records, electrocardiography, cardiovascular imaging, and wearable devices, with applications to modernize US and global healthcare. The work in his Lab is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
Dr. Khera graduated from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences as a National Young Investigator Scholarship awardee. During his training Dr. Khera received the American College of Cardiology’s Young Investigator Award and the Francois Abboud Young Investigator Award, in addition to being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. For his work at Yale, Dr. Khera received the 2023 ASCI Young Physician-Scientist Award, the 2023 Blavatnik Award, and the 2021 Jeremiah Stamler Award.

Professor Clara Chow is Academic Director of the Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC), Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney. She is a cardiologist and Clinical Lead of Community Based Cardiac Services at Westmead hospital. She was appointed to the Board of the National Heart Foundation in 2024 and is also a member of the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Governing Board, Sydney, Australia. Professor Chow is Director of the Australian Stroke and Heart Accelerator (ASHRA). Her recent award highlights include being a finalist for the NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year - Woman of Excellence Category - in 2024 and 2020 respectively, receiving a Research Australia Digital Health Technology – Highly Commended Award, becoming an Honour of Australia recipient as well as a Fellow of the AAHMS in 2023 and being honoured with a Telstra Health - Brilliant Woman in Digital Health Award in 2022. She holds an honorary appointment as the Charles Perkins Centre Westmead Academic Co-director and is past (first female) President of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Professor Chow’s research focuses on the prevention of cardiovascular disease, innovation in the delivery of cardiovascular care and the evaluation of digital health interventions. She has expertise in the design, delivery and implementation of clinical trials. Her PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia was in cardiovascular epidemiology and international public Health and her Postdoc from McMaster University, Canada in clinical trials and cardiac imaging. She has over 300 publications including papers in internationally leading medical journals NEJM, JAMA and Lancet. She is supported by an NHMRC Investigator grant.

Ben Freedman is the Director of External Affairs at the Heart Research Institute Sydney, Honorary Professor of Cardiology at the University of Sydney, and former Head of Cardiology Department at Concord Hospital. Ben's major research interest is stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation. He was awarded an OAM in 2011 for service to medicine as a clinician, educator and researcher. He also received the 2023 NSW ministerial award for cardiovascular research excellence.
