Prof Salvatore Pepe is Editor in Chief of Heart Lung and Circulation and the co-Leader of the Heart Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. His research is focused on safe translation of cell therapy protocols to augment cardiac intervention outcomes, targeting metabolism, immune response and cardiac remodelling in myocardial injury, heart failure, and perioperative complications of cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.

Nick is an early career cardiologist in the cardiometabolic clinic of Fiona Stanley Hospital, Western Australia. His interests include preventive cardiology and cardiometabolic medicine, having undertaken a Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology and Diabetes and a Master of Science in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine. He has also completed a Master of Clinical Research with Distinction and has published a book chapter on lipids in diabetes and over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles. His research is currently supported by the Western Australian Future Health Research and Innovation Fund, Athelstan Saw Clinician Researcher Training Scholarship.

Dr Julee McDonagh is a Registered Nurse with >10 years of clinical experience in cardiology settings and a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Chronic and Complex Care Research, a collaborative clinical research centre between the University of Wollongong and Western Sydney LHD. She is also a proud descendant of the Cabrogal clan of the Darug First Nations people. Dr McDonagh’s research program focuses on the intersection of heart failure, frailty, cardiovascular disease, aging, and multimorbidity. She is the co-lead of the ACvA Frailty and Heart Failure National Taskforce. She has received over $2 million in competitive research funding as Chief Investigator ($1.12 million as CIA), including from the NSW OHMR, NHMRC and MRFF.

Professor Caleb Ferguson is NHMRC Fellow and Director of the Centre for Chronic & Complex Care Research at Blacktown Hospital, Western Sydney Health & University of Wollongong. He is Chair of the Cardiovascular Nursing Council of CSANZ and Cardiovascular Nursing Editor for Heart Lung & Circulation. His research expertise includes cardiovascular multimorbidity and frailty.
