Sonia is a Group Leader and Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship based at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland. Her research uses large-scale genomics and health data to improve the understanding of cardiovascular disease, with the goal to improve disease prevention and facilitate drug discovery. Her previous research uncovered a polygenic contribution in Familial Hypercholesterolemia, and she co-led the first large-scale genetic study of heart failure. Her current research is focused on addressing the diversity gap in cardiovascular research, with a focus on understanding risk in women, and she leads the South Asian Genes and Health in Australia study. She is the recipient of the Australian Academy of Science Ruth Stephens Gani Medal for her contribution to genetics research.

Professor Andrew Sindone has been involved in cardiac research, teaching and improving the lives of those living with cardiovascular disease for almost thirty years. He set up and continues to run the Heart Failure Unit at Concord Hospital with the Heart Failure Clinic, research, rehabilitation and outreach programs. He is involved in teaching medical students, junior doctors, General Practitioners and specialists, and ran a program to update specialists in the management of heart failure over a ten year period. Professor Sindone has received multiple awards and has been Principal Investigator in over 40 international multicentre clinical trials, has presented over 85 research papers and continues to publish in cardiovascular disease. He is a Co-chairman of the NSW Cardiovascular Expert Reference Group, member of the Heart Foundation of Australia, was on the Scientific Committee for the World Congress of Cardiology in 2002 and is co-author of the Australian Guidelines for the Management of Heart Failure. He is patron of multiple charities and assists the Italian Community in education and support of those with heart disease.

Dr Arun Dahiya is currently a Staff Cardiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) and Logan Hospital and previously worked as a staff cardiologist at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). Arun completed advanced training in Cardiology from Princess Alexandra Hospital. He subsequently undertook a two-year advanced cardiovascular fellowship in multimodality imaging at the Cleveland Clinic, USA (July 2010-July 2012). He is a level three-trained specialist in Echocardiography, Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI. He is training advanced trainees and cardiac imaging fellows in multimodality imaging

Professor Fadi Charchar is the Director of the Health Innovation and Transformation Centre at Federation University. Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and Visiting Chair at University of Leicester, UK. Professor Charchar is the President of the International Society of Heart Research. He previously completed a Wellcome Trust Fellowship, an NHMRC Career Development Fellowship and a British Heart Foundation Lectureship in the UK. His research interest is in the understanding of the genetic mechanisms of cardiovascular disease with publications in the Lancet, Nature, and Nature Genetics.

Dr. Aaron Conway holds a Conjoint appointment as Senior Research Fellow in Cardiovascular Nursing with QUT School of Nursing and The Prince Charles Hospital. His research aims to make procedural sedation as safe and effective as possible. This program of research is informed by his clinical experience working as a nurse in the cath lab.
Dr. Conway's prior research appointments include the RBC Chair of Cardiovascular Nursing Research at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and University of Toronto (2018-2023) and a NHMRC Early Career Fellowship at the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University of Technology (2015 to 2018).
His recent work has leveraged machine learning to create innovative solutions for common problems encountered in procedural sedation, including using deep learning to optimize physiological monitoring alarm management and automating sedation state assessments.

A/Prof Sandhir B Prasad is a senior staff cardiologist and clinical lead in echocardiography at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. He is a Monash medical graduate, completed his training in cardiology at Wellington Hospital (NZ), and then completed research and clinical fellowships at Westmead Hospital (Sydney), MonashHeart (Melbourne) and Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane). His PhD focused on the pathophysiology and prognostic implications of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction following myocardial infarction.

Julie Redfern is a Professor of Public Health, a practising Physiotherapist and Director of the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare at Bond University. She has published over 250 manuscripts and 4 book chapters. She has > 15 years of experience delivering multidisciplinary and translational research and is an advocate for effective secondary prevention of CVD. Her research interest is focused on improving practice, reducing risk factors and implementing digital health innovation. Professor Redfern currently holds an NHMRC Investigator Grant (L2) and is currently CIA on NHMRC Synergy Grant (SOLVE-CHD), MRFF and NSW Health grants. She is Co-Chair of the Clinical and Preventative Cardiology Council and member of the Scientific Committee of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. She is also a member of the World Heart Federation and ACvA Science Committees.
