5:30 PM - 5:35 PMBiography
Mithila is a second-year Cardiology Advanced Trainee at Westmead Hospital with a strong commitment to academia and research. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney and is a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney and a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at Western Sydney University. Her research focuses on the burden of cardiovascular disease in women and minority groups.
Dr Nikki Earle

Nikki is a senior research fellow at the University of Auckland with interests in cardiovascular genetics and women's heart health
Dr Jayant Ravindran
Interventional Fellow/PhD Candidate
Concord Hospital / NSW Health / University of Sydney
Sex and regional differences of invasive coronary interventions and in-hospital mortality post STEMI admissions: a 20-year statewide population-linkage study
5:40 PM - 5:45 PMBiography
Dr Jay Ravindran completed his cardiology training at concord hospital and was awarded the FRACP in 20204. He is currently an interventional cardiology fellow and PhD candidate at Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals. He has a particular interest in coronary artery disease, structural heart intervention, heart failure, and preventative cardiology. His PhD focuses on novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for patients with angina and non-obstructive coronary artery disease.
Prof Diane Fatkin
Lab Head
Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute
Societal preferences, values and priorities for genomic testing for atrial fibrillation
5:50 PM - 5:55 PMBiography
Professor Diane Fatkin trained in Clinical Cardiology and Molecular Genetics and is currently Head of the Sr Bernice Research Program in Inherited Heart Diseases, in the Molecular Cardiology Division of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Sydney. She also holds appointments as Honorary Medical Officer in the Cardiology Department, St Vincent’s Hospital, and Professor (conjoint) in the Faculty of Medicine, UNSW Sydney. Her research is focused on understanding the molecular genetic basis of inherited cardiomyopathies, with a specific interest in familial dilated cardiomyopathy and familial atrial fibrillation. This work spans from clinical and genetics studies in families with inherited cardiomyopathies, to functional genomics in cell, mouse, and zebrafish models. A major objective of the team’s research is “bench-to-bedside” translation of new insights about disease mechanisms into personalised approaches to patient management.
Dr Emma Rath
Senior Post-doctoral Bioinformatician
Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute
Genetic insights into unfavourable cardiovascular outcomes following congenital heart disease surgery
5:55 PM - 6:00 PMBiography
Emma Rath is a Senior Postdoctoral Bioinformatician researcher in the highly regarded Computational Genomics laboratory at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (VCCRI), mentored by A/Prof Eleni Giannoulatou. Emma is passionate about creating new, cutting-edge techniques and leveraging advances in DNA technologies, to uncover previously unattainable biology knowledge driving cardiovascular diseases, that can be utilised for improving treatments and prevention. Emma’s work has demonstrated real world immediate impact through the diagnosis of the cause of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) for families of babies born with CHD. Her expertise is recognised beyond VCCRI as the sought-after bioinformatician for cardiologist researcher collaborators.
Mr Utpala Nanda Chowdhury
