Biography

Erina Korohina (Ngāti Porou) is a public health nutritionist and researcher at Manawaora. Her work focuses on Indigenous health, including Māori heart health, workforce development, and community-led research. She leads Te Ara Poutama – Living Well with Heart Disease and serves on the CSANZ Scientific Committee and Equity Working Group.

Biography

Rebecca of Ngāti Porou descent, is passionate about reducing health inequities, improving indigenous health, and creating culturally safe workspaces. Rebecca is a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Nelson Marlborough Hospital, with a position on New Zealand's national cardiac network. She holds roles on the CSANZ Nursing Executive Council, Indigenous Council, and Te Rūnanga o Aotearoa. With a special interest in cardio geriatrics, her master's research focused on this area.

Biography

Carl is a PhD candidate researching rheumatic heart disease, acute rheumatic fever and group A streptococcus epidemiology in Queensland using linked state-wide administrative and health service data. Carl has a clincial background in hospital physiotherapy and is an academic lecturer at the School of Health and Rehabilitational Sciences, The University of Queensland. Carl is passionate about interigating usually-collected data from health services to identify areas for improvement towards better outcomes for people.

Biography

Satyen is a Principle House Officer in Cardiology working at the Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. He has a particular interest in the intersection of Cardiology and public health with a focus on closing the gap in outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians with Cardiovascular disease. This research interest was fostered after working in Cairns for many years, and having visited numerous Cape York and Torres Strait Indigenous communities on Cardiology outreach programs.

Katharine Brown is a Heart Foundation funded postdoctoral research fellow at The Kids Research Institute Australia & Australian National University. She is a non-Indigenous woman living and working on Kaurna country. Her multi-disciplinary approach draws on her experiences in advocacy, policy, epidemiology and translational health services research.

Biography

Vivian Bryce has a masters of cardiovascular nursing and masters of nurse practitioner currently working as an NP at QE11 and PAH hospital in Brisbane. She has worked in various roles across cardiology including the acute setting, cardiac rehabilitation, heart failure, cardiac outreach services and better cardiac care for First Nations peoples. She is the Co- Chair of the Cardiac clinical network, a member of the CSANZ primary prevention alliance, Chair of the QCOR Cardiac outreach committee and an associate investigator on a MRFF grant focusing on supporting the safe transition of care for ACS patients post hospital discharge.
