5:25 PM - 5:30 PMBiography
Tiffany Ellis is a SOLVE-CHD PhD student at the University of Sydney and a practicing physiotherapist in acute care at Westmead Hospital. Her research focuses on improving education strategies to support heart attack patients transitioning from hospital to home, with an emphasis on risk factor modification and optimizing care during the early discharge period.
Dr Aung Zaw Zaw Phyo
Research Fellow
School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine / Monash University
Frailty risk after a cardiovascular event among community-dwelling older people: influence of sociodemographic, polypharmacy and pre-event frailty status
5:30 PM - 5:35 PMBiography
Dr. Aung Zaw Zaw Phyo is a Research Fellow at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University, Australia. His current postdoctoral research is focused on a deeper understanding of the biology of ageing and age-related diseases. Aung completed his MSc specialization in Epidemiology from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. He then obtained his Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. His research interests include biological ageing, frailty, cardiovascular disease, and dementia.
Dr Philippa Heighes
Senior Research Coordinator
Royal North Shore Hospital
Increased adherence to post-discharge recommendations in patients receiving a personalised patient-directed discharge letter (PADDLE).
5:40 PM - 5:45 PMBiography
Dr Philippa Heighes is a Registered Nurse and post-doc researcher from the Department of Cardiology at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney and casual academic at the Faculty of Health, University of Sydney. With a strong focus on person-centred research, Philippa is currently working on a program of research in Cardiovascular Acute Risk Trigger Prevention, with previous work surrounding the Optimisation of Nutrition in Critical Illness. During Philippa’s PhD she developed novel strategies to increase evidence uptake amongst clinicians and enhance knowledge translation.
Dr Hongyi Liu
Basic Physician Trainee
Monash Health
Coronary artery calcification scores are positively correlated with fracture risk
5:45 PM - 5:50 PMBiography
Hongyi (Ruth) is a Basic Physician Trainee at Monash Health with a keen interest in preventative cardiology and women's heart health. For this project, Ruth has worked with fellow BPTs and Monash Health specialists to examine the link between fracture risk and coronary artery disease. This study seeks to enhance clinical preventative practice by promoting early recognition of skeletal risk in individuals with coronary calcification.

Miss Abhinayeni Kuhasri
Medical Student
University of Sydney
Explainable advanced ECG analysis of 12-lead ECG classifies heart disease and shows a strong association with prognosis in the UK BioBank
5:55 PM - 6:00 PMBiography
Abhinayeni Kuhasri is a medical student from University of New South Wales who completed her Honours thesis on advanced electrocardiography scores, its prognostic performance in a large outpatient population and its utility as a potential screening tool. This was completed under the supervision of Professor Martin Ugander. Since then, she has continued in the research field to evaluate different A-ECG scores including those for diastolic dysfunction, heart age gap and left ventricular systolic dysfunction, and their associations with adverse cardiovascular outcomes. This project gave her a brief glimpse into the power technology holds in improving patient care and preventing morbidity and mortality associated with chronic cardiac illnesses. She looks forward to seeing the electrocardiogram eventually transform from a simple bedside investigation into a valuable predictive tool of an individual’s long-term cardiovascular health.
