Dr Jim Pouliopoulos
Senior Postdoctoral Scientist
Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute
Novel magnetic resonance derived cardiac and hepatic abnormalities in patients with alcohol use disorder admitted to a residential alcohol treatment program
Biography
Jim Pouliopoulos is currently a senior postdoctoral scientist at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, where he is undertaking research into advanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging techniques. He was awarded his PhD from the University of Sydney in 2011, to focus his early attention on complex arrhythmia cardiac mapping and mechanisms at Westmead Hospital. He is currently focused on investigating novel disease mechanisms contributing to cardiac disfunction and clinical diagnostics involving the development of quantitative analytical techniques, integrating both advanced CMR imaging and electrophysiology in the context of heart failure, cardiac transplantation surveillance, ischemic remodelling, and arrhythmogenesis.
