Biography

Jessica is an Associate Professor and NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow at the School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine & Health, the University of Sydney. Jessica’s PhD was awarded without emendation in November 2020. She also has a Master of Public Health, and Bachelor of Economics / Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) from the University of Sydney. Jessica became a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) in 2019 and was selected for the World Heart Federation Emerging Leaders Program 2023. Jessica’s research aims to improve the quality of cardiac screening programs to prevent sudden cardiac death and catastrophic disability from stroke. She is currently leading an international, multidisciplinary team building an Australasian registry of athlete screening ECGs. She is also interested in the use of novel eHealth tools and how the law can be used in prevention strategies to achieve public health aims.

Biography

Jordan Jago is an experienced Cardiac Physiologist with a strong focus on interventional cardiology, coronary physiology, and intravascular imaging. Since beginning his career in 2021, he has developed expertise in advanced assessment techniques that aid in diagnosing and managing coronary artery disease. In 2024, Jordan became the Interventional Cardiac Physiology Educator at the Victorian Heart Hospital, where he play a key role in training and expanding the capabilities of physiologists in the catheterization lab. He is IBHRE-certified in cardiac devices (CCDS) and have contributed to research in quantitative flow ratio (QFR) analysis, refining techniques for angiographic image selection and lesion assessment. Committed to advancing the field, Jordan is passionate about standardizing and regulating the physiologist role while continuously improving clinical practices. His dedication to education, research, and innovation helps drive better patient outcomes and the evolution of cardiac physiology as a profession.

Dr. Tian Wang is an Australian Accredited Practising Dietitian, a Research Fellow at The George Institute, and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. She is dedicated to advancing dietary strategies for the prevention and management of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Wang’s research focuses on promoting plant-based and sustainable diets as key strategies for improving cardiovascular health. Since joining The George Institute, she has expanded her research beyond dietary interventions to adopt a comprehensive approach to hypertension management, integrating primary care strategies that emphasize lifestyle modifications, regular blood pressure monitoring, and improving medication adherence. Dr. Wang collaborates with leading global experts in hypertension and is committed to integrating nutrition, pharmaceutical therapy, and primary care management to drive meaningful changes in healthcare and improve long-term cardiovascular outcomes.

Ritu Trivedi is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Health Sciences, The University of Sydney. Her doctoral studies explored digital health technologies for supporting patients with atrial fibrillation. Ritu's postdoctoral research work is focused on the accuracy of devices used by Australians to measure their blood pressure at home. Ritu’s research interests are in optimising self-management for those with cardiovascular disease through innovative approaches.
