Biography

Natalie Raffoul (BPharm Hons, GradCertPharmMed, MHM) is currently the Snr Manager for Healthcare Programs and Clinical Strategy at the National Heart Foundation of Australia. She oversees the design and delivery of national health programs that seek to improve the early detection, assessment and management of cardiovascular disease in Australia. She is a clinical cardiology pharmacist by background and has extensive experience running national implementation and education programs in general practice.

Multi-disciplinary care in action – the physician-pharmacist rapid access atrial fibrillation clinic

Biography

Adam Livori is a cardiac clinician-researcher currently completing his PhD in pharmacoepidemiology, health economics and translational science. He holds degrees in nuclear medicine and clinical pharmacy. He works clinically as consultant cardiology pharmacist at Grampians Health, overseeing clinical pharmacy services in across internal medicine and cardiology from coronary care through to cardiac rehabilitation. His research interests include applied biostatistics and health economic analysis. His passionate about open-source science and has held implementation research funding under Safer Care Victoria, and collaborates between Centre for Medicine Use adn Ssafety and the Victorian Heart Institute at Monash University. His PhD title is “Patterns and predictors of clinical outcomes in myocardial infarction and atrial fibrillation.” Adam co-chairs the leadership committee for the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia cardiology special interest group, and is a founding member of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy Cardiology Special Interest Group.

Biography

Robert Bamber is a Senior Cardiac Sonographer at Auckland City Hospital. He is passionate about improving access to echocardiography nationally, with a particular focus on geographically more remote areas of NZ to reduce inequalities and improve patient care. He supports sonographer career development and has helped introduce sonographer led stress echo services and supports the sonographer led valve clinics at his institution.

Sex differences in Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome [POTS]

Biography

Ms. Marie-Claire Seeley is a Nurse clinician-scientist and PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide. With a perspective as a researcher with 'lived experience,' she has dedicated her research efforts to exploring postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Her significant contributions include the establishment of the only Australian patient registry for POTS, which currently holds more than 500 registrants as well as the elucidation of the prevalence of POTS in post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC). As the CEO of the Australian POTS Foundation, Ms. Seeley has successfully advocated for the adoption of a unique ICD code for POTS in Australia. Her awards include the New Investigator Nursing Poster Award at the CSANZ 2023 and the SA Cardiovascular PhD investigator prize. She is a sought-after invited speaker at national and international conferences as an expert in her field and continues to make significant contributions to the field of autonomic research.

Biography

Janet Bray is an Professor within the Pre-hospital, Emergency and Trauma Unit in the School of Public Health and Preventative Medicine. She is currently the recipient of a Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship and is the academic lead of the Australasian Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium (Aus-ROC) Australian and New Zealand out-of-hospital cardiac arrest registry. She is currently Chair of the Basic Life Support Taskforce for the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and an Executive Member of the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Biography

Dr Ball is a Health Services Researcher and Epidemiologist. Dr Ball’s research focusses on cardiac emergencies, atrial fibrillation, and improving effectiveness and efficiency of health services. Dr Ball is a Senior Research Fellow within the Centre of Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics (CCRET) at Monash University, managing investigator-initiated clinical trials, designing and evaluating new models of care, and conducting research using linked data, international population cohorts, and cardiac registries. Dr Ball currently holds appointments at Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute, Ambulance Victoria, and Alfred Health. Dr Ball is a member of the Safer Care Victoria Cardiovascular Learning Health Network Data Group, is a Visiting Academic at UiT-The Arctic University of Norway and is a member of an international consortium of atrial fibrillation epidemiologists.

Scott is an emerging researcher who currently works on programs of research focused on healthcare delivery improvement, digital health studies, patient education to enhance cardiovascular health and stroke outcomes.

Dr Tom Buckley is a registered nurse and associate professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Sydney as well as a honorary research fellow in the Department of Cardiology, Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. Tom's research focuses on the intricate interplay between psychosocial stressors and cardiovascular risk, with a particular emphasis on understanding their impact on outcomes.
