Biography

Dr Wenru Wang is the Professor from the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore. Her major research interests include chronic illness and long-term care with a primary focus on cardiovascular health and rehabilitation. Prof. Wang’s studies mostly involve complex psychosocial interventions that adopt innovative technology in the design and delivery of health promotion and secondary prevention. Over the past years, she has been awarded a substantial amount of external competitive grants and has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in medical/nursing refereed journals. To recognize her significant contributions to the field of nursing research, A/Prof. Wang was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2020 and was selected as an inductee into Sigma’s International Nursing Researchers Hall of Fame 2023. Prof. Wang contributes to nursing research and education through her various appointments. She serves as the Chair of Chronic Illness and Long-term Care Research Programme at NUS Nursing. She is also an Ambassador of the World Federation of Critical Care Nurses and a member of the Heart Wellness Centre Committee in Singapore. She currently holds the position of Visiting Professor at various universities in China. She has also been appointed as an associate editor of the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing and as an editorial board member of the Journal of Advanced Nursing, Journal of Clinical Nursing, BMC Nursing, and Heart & Lung.

Biography

A registered nurse for more than 20 years, Diana Baptiste specializes in cardiovascular care and prevention. Her sustained scholarship focuses on cardiovascular health across the care continuum for underserved populations, grounded in responding to social justice issues influencing health outcomes. Through funded projects, she has served in the role of principal and co-investigator to advance cardiovascular care and reduce health disparities. Her work in identifying cardiovascular disease risks among Black populations has been nationally recognized through the American Heart Association EPIǀLifestyle Council. She has published peer-reviewed papers in the areas of cardiovascular disease, nursing education, diversity, and cultural humility. Dr. Baptiste is a certified nurse educator whose teaching is grounded in cutting-edge, evidence-based instructional methods with a strong commitment to health equity in practice, research, scholarship, and academic service. She is an exemplary integrated scholar who is committed to transforming patient care as well as supporting nurses of the future. Dr. Baptiste is the principal faculty for the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing’s Center for Cardiovascular and Chronic Care, guiding continuing education programs and dissemination of research from students, faculty, and international collaborators. Dr. Baptiste also demonstrates influential leadership in several professional organizations including the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is a fellow and board member of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association.

Biography

Daman Kaur is a Nurse Practitioner in Cardiology at Te Whatu Ora Hawkes Bay and runs a range of outpatient clinics for a variety of cardiac conditions. Daman has set up cardiology outreach clinics in rural remote regions in Hawkes Bay and has won Inaugral CSANZ cardiac innovation award for her work in that space. Daman has worked in Cardiology since 2011 in Coronary care unit and community cardiology. Her interest areas are Preventative Cardiology, Heart failure, role of exercise/rehabilitation in cardiac conditions and Community cardiology (focussing on access and equity). Daman and her team in Hawkes Bay has set up first combined HF & Pulmonary rehab programme which is running successfully in the region for foreseen future. Daman has won best asian practising professional in Hawkes Bay award in 2023.

Biography

Gillian completed the Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Sonography at Queensland University of Technology. She currently works as a Senior Cardiac Sonographer at both Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley. She has a special interest in complex valvular heart disease and since 2019 she has established and coordinated the first Australian devolved Sonographer Led Aorta and Valve Disease Clinic at Royal Perth Hospital. She has a strong interest in furthering the role of cardiac sonographers in health care, and research interests in novel models of care in heart disease.

Biography

Helen Mountain is a genetic counsellor at Genetic Health Western Australia and a lecturer in the Masters of Genetic counselling program at UTS. Helen has 28 years' experience in a range of clinical roles, research and supervision of genetic counsellors and students. She has been a past member of the HGSA Board of Censors, is the immediate past ASGC Chair and has held numerous committee roles. Helen's clinical roles are in cardiac and cancer genetics, with a key role in developing GHWA's multidisciplinary Cardiac Genetics Service over the past eight years.

Prior to beginning her research career, she was a practising lawyer in top-tier Sydney firms.
