Prof Salvatore Pepe is Editor in Chief of Heart Lung and Circulation and the co-Leader of the Heart Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. His research is focused on safe translation of cell therapy protocols to augment cardiac intervention outcomes, targeting metabolism, immune response and cardiac remodelling in myocardial injury, heart failure, and perioperative complications of cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.

Mark Nolan is a senior Non-Invasive Cardiologist working at Peter Mac Cancer Centre in Melbourne and Bendigo Health, as well as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. He is an He has completed an Echocardiography Fellowship in Adelaide, Cardiac MRI and CT Fellowship in Toronto, and also a Cardio-Oncology Fellowship in Toronto. His PhD thesis examined the optimal use of cardiac imaging to guide treatment in cancer patients. He has first-author publications in Journal of American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Imaging, Journal of American College of Cardiology: CardioOncology and American Journal of Cardiology. His professional interests also include Cardio-Diabetology and Health Economics, and he has published in both of these fields. His recreational interests include bush walking in the Mornington Peninsula and reading about classical history. One of the things he likes most about medicine is the ability to both teach and learn.

Professor Liza Thomas is a Conjoint Professor at Sydney University, Adjunct Professor at University of New South Wales and is the Clinical Lead for non-invasive cardiac imaging at Westmead Hospital. Her research focuses particularly on echocardiographic evaluation of atrial dynamics and function, chemotherapy related cardiomyopathy, amyloid and Fabry cardiomyopathies and cardiac involvement in chronic kidney disease. Liza is actively involved in teaching and supervises PhD and master's students.
Liza has been and invited speaker at national and international meetings and has published over 200 peer reviewed papers.

Nick is an early career cardiologist in the cardiometabolic clinic of Fiona Stanley Hospital. His interests include preventive cardiology and cardiometabolic medicine, having undertaken a Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology and Diabetes and a Master of Science in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine. He has also completed a Master of Clinical Research with Distinction and has published a book chapter on lipids in diabetes and over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles.
