Biography

Dr Wenru Wang is the Professor from the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore. Her major research interests include chronic illness and long-term care with a primary focus on cardiovascular health and rehabilitation. Prof. Wang’s studies mostly involve complex psychosocial interventions that adopt innovative technology in the design and delivery of health promotion and secondary prevention. Over the past years, she has been awarded a substantial amount of external competitive grants and has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in medical/nursing refereed journals. To recognize her significant contributions to the field of nursing research, A/Prof. Wang was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2020 and was selected as an inductee into Sigma’s International Nursing Researchers Hall of Fame 2023. Prof. Wang contributes to nursing research and education through her various appointments. She serves as the Chair of Chronic Illness and Long-term Care Research Programme at NUS Nursing. She is also an Ambassador of the World Federation of Critical Care Nurses and a member of the Heart Wellness Centre Committee in Singapore. She currently holds the position of Visiting Professor at various universities in China. She has also been appointed as an associate editor of the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing and as an editorial board member of the Journal of Advanced Nursing, Journal of Clinical Nursing, BMC Nursing, and Heart & Lung.

Alison is Associate Professor at Monash Rural Health and holds a NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellowship. She is a Registered Nurse, working in cardiac secondary prevention for >15years. Alison’s research focuses on using health literacy and co-design to improve access to health care and health services for vulnerable populations.

Biography

Helen Hayes is a nurse practitioner with over 30 years’ experience in the field of cardiac nursing. She has worked in the field of heart failure, mechanical heart support and cardiac transplantation for over 20 years. She first trained to become a registered in Ireland before emigrating to Australia in 1988 & pursuing her nursing career in Perth. Helen obtained her degree at Edith Cowan University following on with a Post Graduate Degree and finally completing her Masters in Nurse Practitioner through Curtin University in 2006. She has published papers in peer related journals in her field of expertise & regularly presents at National & International Conferences & forums on her chosen speciality. She currently works in the State Advanced Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplant Service at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Helen takes pride in making a difference in people's lives, is passionate about her role in caring for people and enjoys the challenges her chosen role gives her. Helen believes in the value of team work with trust being the foundation on which healthy personal & professional relationships are built & maintained. Life is for living, Do it well!

Biography

Clare originally trained in London, specialising in intensive care nursing. She emigrated to Australia in 1989, moving west to WA in 1992. For the past 27 years she has worked in the West Australia state Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Service, establishing the Nurse Practitioner Service in 2008. Her diverse role includes the co-ordination of outpatient services and clinical management of patients before and after cardiac transplantation. She has presented papers nationally and internationally outlining the clinical outcomes of the West Australian Cardiac Transplant and Mechanical Support programs.

Biography

Dr Chaseling is a cardiovascular and thermal physiologist with experience investigating the influence of heat and exercise on thermal, cardiovascular, and perceptual outcomes amongst clinical populations. Dr Georgia Chaseling is involved in researching the impacts of environmental extremes on negative health outcomes amongst vulnerable populations. She is currently part of the SOLVE-CHD research team, funded by a 5-year NHMRC synergy grant, aimed at solving the long-standing evidence gaps associated with cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention of coronary artery disease. She is also the theme lead for Aging and Chronic Diseases within the Heat and Health Research Incubator, aimed at improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations in the face of climate change.
