Clinical Interests: Aplastic anaemia (AA) and bone marrow failure syndromes, PNH, MDS and myeloid malignancies. Leads the King’s National Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria service and National AA referral centre @ King’s.
Translational Research: Molecular/immunological pathogenesis of MDS and aplastic anaemia, particular focus on overlap disorders. Bloodwise foundation and British Society of Haematology (BSH) senior clinical research fellow.
Clinical Trials: Passionate about delivery of clinical trials. Current National/Global Coordinating Investigator for a number of early/late phase clinical trials. Current drive is to bring novel therapies for PNH, AA, TP53 mutated myeloid neoplasms and improvement of thrombocytopenia.
Scienticific advisor/Patron for patient advocacy group (MDS UK) and member of the MDS NCRN working group. Secretary of the EBMT Severe Aplastic Anaemia Working Party. Vice-Chair of ASH Scientific Committee on Bone Marrow Failure. Chair of the MDS Special Interest Group (SIG) of BSH. Co-Chair of UK VEXNET (VEXAS National MDT panel). Vice Chair EHA Specialised Working Group on Genetic Predisposition to Blood Cancer (Rare diseases)
Associate Editor of British Journal of Haematology and eJHaem. Editorial Board Member of Haematologica.
Authored/co-authored over 220 articles in peer-reviwed journals and has contributed to book chapters in major textbooks.

When haemostasis fails: Lessons learned from managing acquired coagulopathy

Dr. Justin Kreuter serves as the Medical Director of the Transfusion Laboratory, Associate Medical Director of the Transplant Compatibility Laboratory, and Vice Chair of Transfusion Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His clinical interests focus on patient blood management, applying principles of coagulation into clinical practice, and supporting patients who are refractory to platelet transfusion.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Kreuter’s passion is medical education. He has completed advanced training in medical education through the Harvard Macy Institute and interprofessional education at the University of Toronto. He serves as a faculty facilitator for Harvard Macy Institute’s course on Transforming Your Teaching Using Technology. He previously served on the Resident In-Service Examination committee, helping shape national pathology and transfusion medicine exams. In 2026, he will begin serving on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Pathology Review Committee.

Dr. Michelle Lavin is a Consultant Haematologist in the National Coagulation Centre, St. James’s Hospital, Dublin, Ireland and researcher in the Trinity Centre for Reproductive Sciences and Women’s Health. Her doctoral and postdoctoral work focused on von Willebrand Disease (VWD) and phenotypic variability, particularly in the setting of low von Willebrand Factor (VWF) levels. Her current research programme centres on improving recognition and diagnosis of heavy menstrual bleeding to enhance care for Women and Girls+ with Bleeding Disorders (WGBD+).
Dr. Lavin serves as the Chair of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) VWD Committee, the European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD) WGBD Working Group and as an Associate Member of the FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) Menstrual Disorders and Related Health Impacts Committee. She previously served as a Co-Chair on the ISTH VWF Scientific Subcommittee and as an invited expert on the 2021 ASH/ISTH/NHF/WFH Management of VWD guidelines & the 2021 EAHAD Principles of Care for WGBD. She has been the recipient of the Highlights of ISTH award, the Eberhard F. Mammen Young Investigator Award and, most recently, the Irish Haemophilia Society Lifetime Achievement Award for Services to Haemophilia.

Amy Goodrich, RN, MSN, CRNP, Research Associate, is a Nurse Practitioner in the Hematologic Malignancies Program and Research Nursing Manager at The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Ms. Goodrich manages patients with various types of hematologic malignancies, concentrating on the lymphomas. She also manages the Cancer Center’s research nurses and is extremely involved in research operations.
Ms. Goodrich earned her Master’s Degree in 2000 as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the JohnsHopkins University and her undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
