Widad Abdulwahab is a Transfusion Safety Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, as well as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. She brings over 11 years of critical care experience in the intensive care unit, with a strong foundation in managing complex patient needs. Widad holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University and a Master of Nursing from Toronto Metropolitan University. Her clinical and academic work is centered on transfusion medicine and patient safety. She has led numerous educational initiatives grounded in adult learning principles and has extensive expertise in conducting complex transfusion reaction investigations. Her work also includes reporting critical events to Canadian Blood Services, Health Canada, and plasma product manufacturers. A long-standing member of both the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine (CSTM) and the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), Widad is actively engaged in advancing transfusion safety at the provincial level. She contributes to the Ontario Transfusion Transmitted Injuries Surveillance System (TTISS-ON) Education Committee and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Transfusion Safety Network Committee in Ontario, Canada.

Dr Shruthi Narayan leads UK haemovigilance as Medical Director of SHOT and serves as President of the International Haemovigilance Network. She also has a role as a Consultant in Donor Medicine and Plasma for Medicines at NHS Blood and Transplant and is part of the ISBT haemovigilance working party leadership team. She champions a systems-based approach to safety, focusing on human factors, learning from everyday practice, and driving continuous improvement across healthcare.

Amanda Catherwood, State-wide BloodSafe Advanced Nurse Consultant, South Australia, Australia. Amanda is a Council member of ANZSBT and Chair of the ANZSBT TP Working Group as well as a member of the ISBT TP working group. She has worked as TP since 2010 and is passionate about maximising opportunities to work collaboratively to ensure safe patient care, good patient blood management, and the development of accessible and efficient resources for staff and patients.
