Associate Professor Ashish Bajel is a Consultant Haematologist, Bone Marrow Transplant Physician, and Co-Lead of Acute Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Syndrome at Peter MaCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. His primary research focus is novel drug treatments and cell-based therapies for acute leukemias.

Dr. Hongyan Liao is an associate professor in the clinical hematology laboratory of West China Hospital, Sichuan University. She has developed her expertise in the differential diagnosis and follow-up of hematologic neoplasms, with a particular interest in acute leukemia. She is the Principal Investigator on more than 10 research projects.

Ms. Kelly Lim is a PhD candidate at Adelaide University with research interests in precision therapies for rare cancers with high unmet clinical need, particularly chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia and juvenile myelomonocytic leukaemia. Her work involves genetic manipulation of haematopoietic stem cells and the development of humanised in vivo models.

Dr. Francis Baumgartner is a Fellow in Molecular Hematology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, specializing in translational blood cancer research. Trained at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, he completed specialization in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology in 2025. His work identifies novel cancer genes and integrates emerging technologies into translational research.

Dr. Sepideh Azizi is a biomedical researcher interested in acute myeloid leukemia, with a focus on leukemic stem cells, TGF-β signaling, and CD123 regulation in chemoresistance and disease relapse. Her work integrates molecular and translational approaches to identify novel therapeutic strategies targeting leukemic stem cell survival in AML and MDS.

Dr Zhi Han Yeoh is a dual-trained Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist. She completed Acute Leukaemia fellowship at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in 2023 with active involvement in early and late phase clinical trials. She is currently completing her PhD focusing on high-risk clonal haematopoiesis in myeloid malignancies.

Prof Jake Shortt is Clinical Director of Monash Health Haematology and Head of the Department of Haematology in the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash University. He is a clinician scientist with expertise in cancer target validation and drug discovery and has served as a Principal Investigator on >50 trials from first in human to phase 4 in myeloma, leukaemia, myelodysplasia and myeloproliferative disorders.
