Biography

Peter is Professor of Pathology in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology, University of Auckland School of Medicine and a consultant haematologist in the Department of Haematology, Auckland City Hospital. He is Director of the Blood Cancer NZ Research Unit and the lead for clinical research in the Department of Haematology, Auckland City Hospital. His clinical and research interests include leukaemia biology and genomics, and improving therapy and outcomes for patients with myeloid and other blood cancers.

Biography

Dr Ng is a clinical and laboratory haematologist at Royal Perth Hospital with subspecialist interest in myeloproliferative neoplasms following a UK fellowship. Her interests span clinical trials, clinical and translational research and patient advocacy. Dr Ng has spoken and chaired sessions at national and international meetings and authored numerous publications.

Biography

Dr Perkins is a clinician scientist with an interest in transcriptional programs of blood development and how these can be manipulated by gene editing to treat inherited and acquired blood diseases. Dr Perkins is Professor of Haematology and Head of Molecular Pathology at the Bayside Health, and a group leader at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases at Monash University. He undertook a PhD at The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in genetics and post-doctoral studies and Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard University. Dr Perkins’ team have made important discoveries about the genetics of inherited red blood cell diseases, and helped develop the field of clinical genetic testing in Australia. His team are international leaders in discovery genetics and clinical trials for myelofibrosis, a rare an incurable form of blood cancer.

Biography

Dr Ellis is a consultant clinical and laboratory haematologist who cares for patients with non-malignant and malignant conditions including lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms, thrombosis and bleeding disorders. He has clinical and research interests specifically in myeloproliferative disorders, thrombosis and haemostasis. He completed medical school at the University of Queensland in 2009 and haematology specialist training in Brisbane. He completed a PhD at the University of Sydney in 2022 investigating platelet formation for which he received a university prize. He maintains an active research interest.
