Widad Abdulwahab is a Transfusion Safety Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, as well as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. She brings over 11 years of critical care experience in the intensive care unit, with a strong foundation in managing complex patient needs. Widad holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University and a Master of Nursing from Toronto Metropolitan University. Her clinical and academic work is centered on transfusion medicine and patient safety. She has led numerous educational initiatives grounded in adult learning principles and has extensive expertise in conducting complex transfusion reaction investigations. Her work also includes reporting critical events to Canadian Blood Services, Health Canada, and plasma product manufacturers. A long-standing member of both the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine (CSTM) and the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), Widad is actively engaged in advancing transfusion safety at the provincial level. She contributes to the Ontario Transfusion Transmitted Injuries Surveillance System (TTISS-ON) Education Committee and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Transfusion Safety Network Committee in Ontario, Canada.

Dr Shruthi Narayan leads UK haemovigilance as Medical Director of SHOT and serves as President of the International Haemovigilance Network. She also has a role as a Consultant in Donor Medicine and Plasma for Medicines at NHS Blood and Transplant and is part of the ISBT haemovigilance working party leadership team. She champions a systems-based approach to safety, focusing on human factors, learning from everyday practice, and driving continuous improvement across healthcare.

Penny leads the NSW Blood Watch program and network of transfusion practitioners. Penny is experienced in strategic patient safety systems, clinical governance, hospital accreditation, improvement science and, how these systems contribute to safer transfusion practice.

Manpreet Gill is a Nurse Practitioner in Patient Blood Management (PBM) at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora -Counties Manukau. She established and has led the pre-operative anaemia optimisation programme at Middlemore Hospital since 2018, supporting evidence-based anaemia management and transfusion stewardship. She holds a Master of Nursing and has a clinical background in Haematology, General Medicine, and Dermatology. Her professional interests include peri-operative anaemia optimisation, iron deficiency, transfusion safety, and PBM implementation. Manpreet contributes to PBM and transfusion medicine at local and national levels through the Hospital Transfusion Committee, Aotearoa Patient Blood Management Working Group, Health New Zealand National Blood Management Group, and ANZSBT Transfusion Practitioners Working Group. She has contributed to pre-operative anaemia pathways and played a key role in implementing New Zealand’s first community-based Routine Antenatal Anti-D Prophylaxis programme.

Rebecca McLean is the Clinical Nurse Consultant at Perth Children's Hospital in Western Australia. Rebecca is also a member of the ANZSBT council as well as the Engagement and Learning Committee.
