Dr Joanne Tan is a Research Fellow in the Product Development research group at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. Her expertise lies in blood processing methods and characterising blood products, such as serum eye drops, red cell components, and cold-stored whole blood.

Biography

Dr Hirani is a Senior Research Fellow at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. Her research activities include analysing subtle molecular changes that can occur in patients following the transfusion of blood products, performing evidence based research for changes in transfusion practices and evaluating the use of blood products in numerous settings.

Biography

Dr Lauren Waters is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. Her current research focuses on improving the quality of cryopreserved platelets using novel freezing strategies. She’s also interested in how alterations to platelet RNA over product storage affect platelet quality and function.

Dr Rebecca Griffiths is a Senior Research Fellow at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, leading the project growing red blood cells from stem cells for diagnostics and therapeutics. Dr Griffiths’ research into human erythropoiesis aims to increase yields of cultured red blood cells whilst answering clinically relevant fundamental questions for translation.

She is a member of WHO advisory group on Blood Regulation, Availability and Safety; AABB Global Transfusion Forum steering committee; and AABB Cell Therapy Section Coordinating Committee.
