Management of haematological malignancies in pregnancy

Biography

Dr. Kidson-Gerber (FRACP, FRCPA) is a consultant Haematologist at Prince of Wales Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick, Sydney. She subspecialises in Haemoglobinopathies and Obstetric Haematology, working closely with obstetricians and midwives, genetics and laboratory staff on clinical and laboratory issues. Dr. Kidson-Gerber is passionate about optimising women’s health outcomes in the clinic and through research and education. She co-founded the Haematology in Obstetrics and Women’s Health (HOW) Collaborative. Dr. Kidson-Gerber is involved in a range of projects and publications including lymphoma in pregnancy, management of Sickle Cell Disease in pregnancy, optimising outcomes in Transfusion Dependent Thalassaemia, Guidelines for Estimation of Fetomaternal Haemorrhage, inherited bleeding disorders, haemoglobinopathy screening, thromboprophylaxis in pregnancy, anaemia and iron deficiency in pregnancy. Dr. Kidson-Gerber chaired the NSW Health Pathology Community of Practice for Haemoglobinopathies and Fetomaternal Haemorrhage.

Fertility and haematological malignancies

Biography

Kate is a fertility specialist, gynaecologist and reproductive endocrinologist. She completed university in Melbourne and trained in obstetrics and gynaecology at The Women’s Hospital and The Mercy Hospital, with further work and experience in this field during two years in the UK. Kate then spent three years specialising in infertility and reproductive endocrinology and is CREI qualified. She has led and participated in many research studies, both at Melbourne IVF and with other researchers. Kate has authored and co-authored over 45 research papers published in scientific journals. She is Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Melbourne, Royal Women’s Hospital, and the Head of the Endocrine and Metabolic Service and Acting Head of Reproductive Services both at the Royal Women’s Hospital Melbourne. She is also the Clinical Director and Head of Clinical Research at Melbourne IVF. Kate has also been appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to gynaecology, reproductive medicine and fertility research.

Dr Anastazia Keegan is a Consultant Haematologist and Transfusion Medicine Specialist. She is the Vice President of ANZSBT, Head of Department Haematology at King Edward Memorial Hospital and works in the Transfusion Policy and Education team at the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.
