Biography

Kari Mudie completed her initial nursing degree in the United Kingdom, before moving to Australia in 2000. Kari first commenced working at the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital (RBWH) as the Apheresis Coordinator in 2006. Kari completed a Graduate Certificate in Nursing Science (Apheresis Nursing) in 2007 and a Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) in 2012 and commenced her current role of Apheresis Nurse Practitioner in 2013. Kari was one of the CAR-T Nurse Leads involved in the introduction of the RBWH CAR-T service between 2020-2021, and more recently was the Nurse Lead in the implementation of a new extracorporeal photopheresis service at RBWH.

Biography

Paul Malau (RN, BN, MN Apheresis Clinical Nurse Consultant) is one of the Apheresis Clinical Nurse Consultant in Australia who has expertise not only in Apheresis field but also in Cellular Therapies. He has been working in the field of haematology for more than 25 years with 18 years in the Apheresis specialty. He was involved in the Juliet Trial for Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma that led to the commercial license of Car-T Cells for Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Paul is generous and passionate with sharing his knowledge, expertise and experience to nurses and medical professionals. Paul has presented at local and state forums on his work in the Apheresis/Transplant field in Australia and is frequently an invited speaker in both nursing and multidisciplinary forums over the last 20 years in Australia and Indonesia. Currently Paul is involved in the project of developing Apheresis Manual for ACI together with other CNCs, and a member of the advisory body for development of new course graduate certificate in nursing speciality: Apheresis through the Australian College of Nursing. Paul is a member of the Immune Effector Cell (IEC) working group NSW and IEC quality service steering Committee RPA.

Romony Jeans has been a registered nurse for over 30 years, working mostly in the cancer nursing specialty, including working in therapeutic and cellular therapy apheresis for 20 years. She is currently the Cancer Centre Clinical Nurse Educator at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth, WA.
