Biography

Gary Kilov is a founding member of the RACGP (Royal Australian College of GPs) Diabetes Specific Interest Group and a co-founder of the Primary Care Diabetes Society of Australia and past Editor in Chief of the Society’s journal, Diabetes & Primary Care Australia. He is a contributor to the current RACGP diabetes handbook (2016-2024) and a member of several National Diabetes Supply Scheme Expert Reference Groups. Associate Professor Kilov has established a multidisciplinary, diabetes-focused general practice in Launceston, Tasmania. He shares his time between Launceston treating the full spectrum of patients with diabetes and obesity-related conditions and providing peer-to-peer and medical undergraduate education on diabetes and related conditions. He has presented papers and conducted numerous educational sessions at national and international seminars and conferences, and he has been published in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to diabetes, obesity, and respiratory medicine. Dr Kilov brings a personal perspective to his work, having lived with type one diabetes and lifelong coeliac disease.

Biography

Dr Ted Wu is a senior staff specialist endocrinologist and the Director of the Diabetes Centre at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia, a visiting endocrinologist at Dubbo Base Hospital and an Honorary Professor at the Shijiazhuang Diabetes Hospital in Hebei, China. As well as clinical diabetes, he has had a long-term interest in both teaching and research, focused on novel diabetes therapies, type 2 diabetes in young adults and diabetes complications. He has published numerous articles, abstracts and book chapters and is a frequent invited speaker to international symposia. He has been instrumental in establishing the Royal Prince Alfred Diabetes Centre as an International Diabetes Federation “Centre of Education” and National Association of Diabetes Centres “Centre of Excellence”.

Biography

Prof Brendon Yee MBChB (Otago) FRACP PhD is a Senior Staff Specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA). He is a respiratory and sleep physician that has an interest in respiratory failure and general sleep disorders. He is a Clinical Professor and Head, Discipline of Sleep Medicine at Sydney University. He is the co-chair of the Sleep Clinical Academic Group (Sydney Health Partners). He is also a senior researcher/clinician at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. He is also an Honorary Professor at Macquarie University. His research interests include the cardiometabolic and neurobiological effects of sleep apnea, hypercapnic respiratory failure, treatments of OSA plus other common sleep disorders. He has published over 160 papers and book chapters and has supervised many PhD, Masters and sleep fellows over the years.
