Professor Paul Breen is an entrepreneurial Biomedical Engineer and Research Professor at The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development, Western Sydney University. He has developed neuromodulation and wound care technology leading to two start-ups, as well as two more in lab technology and chronic disease monitoring.

Cameron Evans, PhD student at the Kolling Institute, University of Sydney, explores repurposing TGA-approved drugs for diabetic foot ulcers and peripheral artery disease, using animal models, human tissue, and cells. He is jointly supervised by A/Prof Sarah Glastras and Prof Gemma Figtree.

Biography
Nick Norris is a new Postdoctoral researcher at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research, specializing in β-cell biology and insulin granule dynamics. He completed his PhD in 2025 and now works at WIMR focused on advancing islet transplantation and regenerative beta-cell therapies for diabetes treatment.

Novel molecular signatures of peripheral regulatory T cells in kidney disease associated with Type 1 Diabetes
Biography
Wilson is an researcher within the diabetes research team of Prof. Hardikar and Dr. Joglekar at Western Sydney University (WSU) and recipient of the T1D breakthough fellowship. He has also been supported via ADS Lindsey Baudinet Rising Star Award and WSU Research Theme Grant Assistance for mechanistic research on non-coding(nc-)RNA.

Biography
Belinda Yau is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Islet Biology and Metabolism laboratory at the Charles Perkins Centre. Her research focuses on the physiology and function of insulin secretory granules, primarily in the context of beta-cell dysfunction in diabetes.
