Abstract

Biography

Dr. Neisha D’Silva is a Senior Staff Specialist in Endocrinology at Mater Hospital Brisbane, Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, and a member of the Queensland Diabetes Clinical Network. With nearly 20 years of experience caring for young adults with Diabetes, she helped develop the comprehensive Diabetes Psychosocial Assessment Tool (DPAT) and has co-authored several publications highlighting its acceptability and benefits. Dr. D’Silva has been a lead author of the nationally endorsed Guidelines for Assessment and Management of Disordered Eating/Eating Disorders in Children, Adolescents and Adults with Type 1 Diabetes which has gained international recognition and uptake.

Biography

Amanda DAVIS (Adv APD), I have been a Snr Dietitian in the Consultation Service at QuEDS since 2008. I have been extensively involved in the creation and review of treatment guidelines for eating disorders and for T1D and eating disorders. I have established a strong community of practice for dietitians working in eating disorders, including provision of online structured peer supervision, annual masterclasses and the collaborative of dietitians in eating disorders (COD-ED). I also run a small private practice in supervision (InformED Dietetics).

Biography

Hannah Mackay is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), with a Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics (Hons), working at Mater Health as Senior Diabetes Dietitian. She has extensive experience in diabetes, is an Accredited DAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) facilitator, and Credentialled Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC).

Biography

Chelsea is a Research Assistant at the Mater Hospital and Facilitator of the Australian Diabetes Body Project, providing a unique perspective to the program also being a Type 1 diabetic since the age of 10 (16 years ago). An OP 3 award recipient at the end of high school transitioned into both a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters of Education from the University of Queensland, Graduating masters at 23 in 2022. Chelsea has also worked extensively in learning support roles, recruitment, NDIS sector, and is currently in the educational space. Outside of work and research, Chelsea is passionate about running, having completed numerous competitive runs and more recently the Melbourne Marathon 42.2km in 2024 and competing again in the upcoming Sydney Marathon 31st August 2025.
