Dr Shantha Joseph is an endocrinologist and obstetric physician who leads the Diabetes in Pregnancy services in Southern Adelaide Local Health Network based at Flinders Medical Centre, one of South Australia's leading maternal and neonatal tertiary referral hospitals. With comprehensive expertise in advanced diabetes technologies, complex endocrine conditions, and maternal metabolic health, she bridges clinical evidence and practical, patient-centred care through national education programs and innovative service delivery.
As a recognised expert in her field, Dr Joseph has shaped national consensus guidelines and pioneered multidisciplinary care models that prioritise health equity and digital innovation. Her work with continuous glucose monitoring and emerging technologies ensures women with diabetes in pregnancy receive timely, evidence-based care. Drawing on over a decade of experience across public, private, and regional healthcare settings, she champions strong GP–specialist partnerships and mentors the next generation of clinicians to deliver outcomes that truly matter to women and their families.

Dawn is a midwife with a keen interest in Diabetes, Pregnancy & Wearable Technology. She practices in a large teaching hospital providing care throughout pregnancy from conception and the postnatal period. Her skills include a working knowledge of Hospitals, Medicine, Healthcare, & aspects of Public Health education. Dawn regularly provides education sessions for healthcare professionals from various disciplines about issues specific to living with diabetes, including developments in available diabetes technologies and their use in pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause .
She has been invited to speak on a number of podcasts internationally about her lived experience of T1 Diabetes, Pregnancy and Perimenopause.
She has a range of experience as a Primary School teacher, guest lecturer, co-researcher, and peer-supporter for people living with diabetes.
Dawn has published research investigating the use of wearable technologies during pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause. She is currently working with diabetes advocacy groups, researchers and charities to identify and address the specific needs of those living with diabetes across different life stages.

Professor Eleanor Scott is Professor of Medicine (Diabetes and Maternal Health) at the University of Leeds and Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. She leads the diabetes in pregnancy service and integrates delivering clinical care with performing clinical research using new technologies to improve pregnancy outcomes for women with diabetes. Recent studies include MAGIC – using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) to redefine diagnosis of gestational diabetes (GDM); PROTECT- a randomised controlled trial of CGM in Type 2 diabetes pregnancy; AIDAPT – a randomised controlled trial of closed loop in Type 1 diabetes pregnancy; RECOGNISE – a feasibility study of CGM in GDM; and IMAGINE- RCT of CGM for the early detection and management of hyperglycemia in pregnancy
She has helped shape services nationally through roles that include: clinical lead for National Gestational Diabetes Audit; NPID Audit advisory group; NHS England Clinical Lead - developing & delivering the clinical pathways, procurement, training & governance required for rollout to all NHS Trusts of continuous glucose monitoring for women with diabetes in pregnancy as part of the NHS long term plan; Diabetes Technology Network-UK - the development & delivery of an educational toolkit to support healthcare professionals & patients across the UK to use continuous glucose monitoring effectively in pregnancy; NHS England Clinical co-lead for Implementation of Hybrid Closed Loop nationally in pregnancy following the results of the AIDAPT trial and integration into NICE TA; NHS England Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle Clinical co-lead for Diabetes. Internationally she is a member of DPSG and general secretary for IADPSG.

Biography
Shaun Johnson, RN, CDE is the Senior Clinical Science Liaison at AMSL/Dexcom Australia and a Credentialled Diabetes Educator with a strong background in diabetes technology, clinical research, and professional education. He is currently completing a Master of Nursing and has led multiple phase II and III clinical trials in T1D and T2D, including establishing South Australia’s first Nurse Practitioner-led clinical trial dispensing program. Named the 2020 South Australian CDE of the Year by the ADEA, Shaun has lived with T1D for 30 years, combining professional expertise with lived experience to inform his work.
