Dr. Imran Butt graduated from King Edward Medical University, Pakistan, and began his medical career in Australia in 2011. He completed physician training in WA and advanced training in General and Acute Care Medicine in Queensland, earning his FRACP in General Medicine in 2022. Currently training in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Ipswich Hospital, he also contributes to international research trials at Logan Endocrine and Diabetes Service. His clinical interests include complex diabetes, obesity medicine, and metabolic fatty liver disease.

An experienced clinician, John is known globally for his breadth of clinical research into obesity and its complications as well as weight loss treatments and their effects on health. He rates in the top researchers worldwide in the fields of obesity; weight loss; morbid obesity; and bariatric surgery.

Taya Thornton is an undergraduate biomedical student at Deakin University. In Summer 2024/25 she undertook a voluntary research project with Professor Alicia Jenkins (IDF WPR Chair) and colleagues at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute related to Type 1 diabetes outcomes in the Western Pacific Region.

Georgia Lonergan is a credentialed diabetes educator, clinical nurse specialist, and dietitian with over 15 years of research experience. She possesses extensive knowledge of type 1 diabetes and is dedicated to advancing care through education, clinical practice, and evidence-based research.

Dr. Sanjay Mahajan, Senior Consultant Physician at Kailash Hospital, Noida, has over 30 years of experience in medicine and intensive care. He serves as Joint Treasurer, IMA Noida, and Secretary, API Noida. He has received multiple national awards and is actively involved in academic and professional medical forums.

Dr Sharmin Yussuf is currently a Basic Physician Trainee with an interest in Endocrinology.

Dr Dishan Samaranayake is a second-year Endocrinology Advanced Trainee at Westmead Hospital in New South Wales, Australia, with a special interest in diabetes management and care.

Uffe Søholm researches in type 1 diabetes, including hypoglycaemia prevention and management. His work spans multiple international projects where he investigates psychological and behavioural outcomes. He is committed to developing and integrating person-reported outcome measures, with the aim of improving quality of life for people living with diabetes.

Dr Richard Yang is an Advanced Trainee in General Medicine with a MD and a MMed in Advanced Metabolic Health from the University of Sydney. He has a strong clinical and academic interest in metabolic health, with a particular emphasis on managing and understanding type 2 diabetes and obesity.
