Akash is a medical intern currently working in The Prince Charles Hospital. His research interest include diabetes and metabolic management, and rural/regional health advancement. He completed this study under the supervision of A/Prof Harshal Deshmukh in Mackay Base Hospital.

Biography

Madeleine Hemphill is a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Philosophy student. Her current research explores the markers, mechanisms, and management of chronic complications in Type 1 Diabetes. She hopes to eventually specialise in vascular surgery and integrate research with clinical practice to improve care for people with vascular disease.

Biography

Dr. Huang is an early career researcher in multidisciplinary medical science, undertaking postdoctoral research training within the Adelaide Medical School. He has a unique interdisciplinary background across medicine, physics and animal sciences, which has enabled him to develop novel research platforms, including multiplexed fluorescence sensor and organ-on-a-chip device, to interrogate the biological functions of metabolic tissues in health. In addition to the innovation of research tools, he has embarked on studies to understand metabolic derangement via cell models and (pre-)clinical trials in the context of major metabolic diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and MAFLD.

Dr Ruth Frampton is an Endocrinologist and PhD candidate at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Her PhD project is the RESET1 study, a randomised clinical trial investigating semaglutide's potential to reduce cardiometabolic risk for people with type 1 diabetes.

Dr Minh Le is an Endocrinology Advanced Trainee at Western Health and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Having completed a major in Immunology, he maintains a strong research interest in its application to endocrine disorders. Under the supervision of Professor John Wentworth, he investigated the utility of disease progression risk scores in immunotherapy prevention trials for type 1 diabetes, with the novel findings published in Diabetes Care this year.
