Then I migrated to Australia and join T cell Human Immunology lab in SVI, currently focussing on antigens ‘seen’ by auto-reactive T cells.

Alexandra Mahoney is a 3rd year PhD student investigating a liver-directed gene therapy for Type 1 Diabetes treatment. Alexandra hopes to use a clinically applicable lentiviral-vector to develop insulin-producing cells from liver cells. With this research, Alexandra is hoping to help alleviate economic and lifestyle burdens of Type 1 Diabetes.
