A 2-hour masterclass. Ruta Phatak (Dietitian, DE), Ruilin Ng (Pharmacist, CDE) and Daniela Nash (RN CDE, ADEA SA Branch Chair) will be presenting in a masterclass for new and established CDEs interested in starting a private practice. The session will involve: - How to set up a business name, registering a business and ABN - Provider numbers and Medicare payment system (HPOS, PRODA) - Fee structures - Marketing/Website - Insurances, software programs - Finding a GP clinic in their local area and how to approach them - Renting or buying an office space - Equipment required in starting up a business - How to address and provide an assessment of a client during a consult

Biography

Daniela Nash is a Registered Nurse and Credentialled Diabetes Educator. She is the ADEA Chair for South Australia and currently studying Masters of Nurse Practitioner at Flinders University. Daniela works in private practice and is employed as an Associate Lecturer and Diabetes Teaching Specialist at Flinders University. She has a passion for teaching people with diabetes how to self-manage their condition.

Biography

Ruilin is a pharmacist with over 10years of experience in the community, private hospital and aged care setting. Whilst working in the community, she noticed a gap in diabetes healthcare and went onto study her graduate certificate in diabetes education and management. She is a CDE working in private practice and pharmacy. Ruilin is passionate about improving diabetes and wound care in the primary care setting. When she is not hard at work, she puts her chef hat on trying new recipes in the kitchen.

Biography

Mrs Ruta Phatak : Accredited Practising dietitian with special interest in diabetes management and health literacy. Experienced and passionate about providing patient centered care and supporting people with diabetes to focus on developing self- management skills. Currently working in private practice (consulting at various GP clinics) and working at private hospital. Strongly believes in empowering person with diabetes to manage everyday challenges and see the potential in small consistent changes. Firmly supports the need for proficient professional workforce to support diabetes education in the community and an active contributor as a member of the ADEA-SA team.
