Professor Anthony Russell (MBBS PhD FRACP) has been Director of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Alfred Health, Melbourne and Professor of Medicine with the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University since Jan 2022. Professor Russell was previously the Director of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane from 2005 to 2021. Professor Russell has led innovative projects to provide new models of care for people with diabetes. He has implemented the “Beacon” practice model, providing integrated care for patients with complex Type 2 diabetes in the community with up-skilled GPs and performed a proof-of-concept of eConsultations. He has initiated a Telehealth service, delivering diabetes services to rural and remote indigenous and non-indigenous communities across QLD. He sits on the steering committees for Diabetes Feet Australia and the National Association ofDiabetes Centres. Professor Anthony Russell is the current President of the Australian Diabetes Society.

Prof Karin Jandeleit-Dahm is the Deputy head of the Diabetes Department at Monash University and Leibniz Chair at the German Diabetes Centre. She is a clinician scientist and her research focuses on early detection and prevention as well as better treatments for diabetic complications, specifically kidney disease in diabetes.

Associate Professor Priya Sumithran is an endocrinologist and clinician researcher. She leads a research group at Monash University, Central Clinical School, and is Clinical Lead for Obesity Medicine at Alfred Health. Her clinical work focuses on the care of people with obesity and type 2 diabetes and her research interests are in the neuroendocrine regulation of appetite and eating behaviours and the clinical application of medications and surgery for metabolic diseases.

Wilson is an ECR within the diabetes research team of Prof. Hardikar and Dr. Joglekar at WSU and a recent recipient of JDRF International post-doctoral fellowship. He has been a recipient of the prestigious ADS Lindsey Baudinet Rising Star Award and WSU Research Grant Assistance for mechanistic research on non-coding(nc-)RNA.
