Biography

Dr Kelly Lambert is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian with qualifications in knowledge translation, health economics and management, and two decades of experience as a renal dietitian and a doctorate investigating health literacy and cognitive impairment in kidney failure. Dr Lambert is an Associate Professor and Academic Program Director for the Nutrition and Dietetics Program at the University of Wollongong. Dr Lambert’s research interests are intended to support people with kidney disease to live better lives and to progress the science about developing better patient education materials.

Teachback for diabetes: Tips, tricks and misconceptions

Abstract

Biography

Dr. Shannon Lin is an experienced healthcare professional specializing in diabetes management, particularly in Indigenous, health literacy and diabetes workforce. As an AdvAPD and CDE, she provides diabetes care and education in remote and regional NSW through Indigenous outreach clinics. Shannon holds a PhD in health literacy and diabetes education and advocates for inclusive health communication within the diabetes workforce. She has presented on health literacy at the past three ADC and published relevant articles for Australian Diabetes Educators. Shannon's academic teaching, as the Diabetes Course Director at the University of Technology Sydney, complements her role as the NSW Branch Chair of ADEA. She actively contributes to state and national diabetes committees and is highly respected in the Asia Pacific region.
