Biography

Dr. Juan Pablo Frías is Medical Director and Principal Investigator of Velocity Clinical Research (formerly National Research Institute) in Los Angeles, CA. He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed his Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Frías has held academic positions at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes) and the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, where he is currently on the clinical faculty. He has been involved in diabetes and metabolism-related research for over 25 years and has authored numerous publications in this field, including first author publications in New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, Diabetes, Diabetes Care, and Cell Metabolism.

Abstract

Biography

Michael Horowitz leads the Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) in Translating Nutritional Science to Good Health at the University of Adelaide and is the Director of the Endocrine and Metabolic Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. His research activities focus on gastrointestinal motor, sensory, and hormonal function, particularly in relation to diabetes, appetite regulation and critical illness. He has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Science by the University of Adelaide (2021), the Camillo Golgi Prize of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (2022) and an Officer of the Order of Australia (2023).

Dr Jalleh is an endocrinologist currently undertaking a PhD studying the relationships of gastric emptying, incretin hormones and glucoregulatory responses. He graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2013 as the award winner of the prestigious Everard Prize and University Medal.
