This Insulet sponsored symposium will explore how the simplicity of tubeless pump technology is benefiting various patient groups and supported by the most recent evidence. We are delighted to have Prof Emma Wilmot (University of Nottingham, UK) join us remotely to discuss the decision-making process for pump selection and innovation that enables choice. Latest results from a world first and Australian RCT supporting tubeless pump technology will be presented in addition to insights and real-world data from our existing Australian Podders. Breakfast served from 7:15am.

Emma Wilmot

Supporting Pump Selection and Innovation Designed to Enable Choice

Biography

Emma Wilmot is an Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham, Consultant Diabetologist in Derby and founder of the Diabetes Technology Network UK. She has over 100 publications and has been Principal or Chief Investigator on a range of diabetes studies. She was previously awarded the University of Leicester medal for excellent PhD performance “Type 2 diabetes in younger adults”. As founder of the award-winning Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) Diabetes Technology Network UK, she led the organisation to support improvements in access to diabetes technology in the UK, developing and delivering policies and educational resources for both health care professionals and people living with diabetes. Emma is an ABCD committee member, deputy lead for the ABCD audit programme and ABCD academic sub-committee member. She is also a DAFNE structured education executive board member and expert advisor for the National Diabetes Audit programme.

An Australian Randomised Controlled study – Treatment Satisfaction of Omnipod DASH versus Usual care

Biography

Dr Kong is a Melbourne based Endocrinology fellow with a focus on Type 1 diabetes and technology. She is currently working with Barwon Health, Victoria, and Melbourne University. Audrey has worked on multiple research projects with more recent research in diabetes technology at the Diabetes Technology Research Group(DTRG).

Omnipod DASH: Australian Insights and Real-world Experiences So Far

Biography

Ben is a Melbourne-based Endocrinology Fellow with roughly two decades of personal experience living with T1D. He is currently working with the University of Melbourne, Austin Health, Victorian Virtual ED, RFDS and Ambulance Victoria to improve access to urgent diabetes care regardless of geography. His lived experience has also fostered a passion for diabetes technology and how it will shape future care.
