Details

Shifts in international student mobility & decision-making within the Asia-Pacific region are coming faster than ever. A Biden-Harris administration that is more welcoming to international students, plus more culturally-adept outreach approaches & admissions policies widely adopted by U.S. universities, have resulted in a “bounce” or “rebound” – a renewed and robust interest in American-style higher education. Despite this apparent resilience, still, in terms of attracting diverse global talent, the stakes for U.S. universities are higher, and the competition is stronger. This session brings together seasoned higher education enrollment leaders from 3 very different U.S. universities. All three panelists have deep intercultural backgrounds, expertise, & experiences (with two of the panelists coming to the U.S. originally as international students). Together we will try to look around corners and make sense of the current landscape impacting the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of right-match international students globally. Unique, proprietary data will be shared to inform understanding & actions. This interactive session is designed to offer evidence-based insights & data-driven best practices to help higher ed representatives navigate the road ahead and exceed their goals in a new world of global engagement. Learning Objectives: • Examine recent data trends related to international student mobility & decision-making from the Asia-Pacific region to the U.S., and extrapolate what these findings mean for a broader set of higher education institutions globally. • Explore what we learned during COVID & which new international recruitment practices, approaches, & policies will persist beyond the pandemic; also, what are the implications (especially from an enrollment leadership perspective), and why some international recruitment methods have worked better than others. • Expand on how innovation (test optional/ score free policies, and the digitization of international recruitment efforts) have impacted the overall higher ed global engagement/ enrollment landscape. Target Audience: higher education outreach, recruitment, admissions, & enrollment professionals. Target Audience Level: Intermediate, Advanced
