The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated innovations and disruptions in college and university recruitment and admissions. In this dynamic and interactive session, experts from College Board and Duolingo will discuss how digital assessments can empower students and educators alike and provide greater access to college opportunities globally. Participants will also hear from the Institute of International Education (IIE) about trends in international student admissions, highlighting how institutions have adapted application and selection processes, leveraging online tools to ease the process for international students to pursue an education abroad.

A passionate languages teacher and student, James has taught in 5 countries and speaks 4 languages, making him an advocate for both the power of international education, and the need to reduce barriers to pursuing it.

Mirka Martel is IIE’s Head of Research, Evaluation & Learning (REL) and has been with IIE since 2012. Dr. Martel manages research and evaluation projects in international education, leadership, and development. Her oversight of key resources in the international education field, including the historic Open Doors report on international educational exchange and the Project Atlas research initiative on global student mobility, advance the field and provide strategic insight into the future of academic mobility flows in the United States and worldwide.
