This presentation explores the technical and vocational skills development needed to deliver the green transition committed to in national climate plans and policies. With insights from institutional TVET leaders from Canada and Colombia and experience gained through Colleges and Institutes Canada’s 50 + years of development cooperation work, this session will extract practical information that is useful for decision-makers and TVET practitioners about concerns of skills supply and demand in climate change priority sectors. Learning Objectives: • Attendees will learn how to utilize international institutional partnerships to strengthen cohesion between climate policies and skills development planning • Attendees will learn how to establish a framework for industry engagement to ensure skills planning is relevant • Attendees will gain insights into developing tools for skills assessment and projections Target Audience: • TVET decision/policymakers • TVET practitioners • Individuals working on national commitments towards the SDGs • Individuals working on national climate policies Target Audience Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Biography

I am currently in charge of Division of Education, SEAMEO Regional Training Center in Vietnam (SEAMEO RETRAC) where different educational activities, including research, training, conferences, seminars and information dissemination programs are delivered to educational institutions, not only in Vietnam, but also different countries in the Southeast Asian region. Additionally, the Division is involved in developing partnerships and enhancing international collaborations for the Center while assisting Vietnamese institutions in developing collaborations with other overseas institutions. My research areas of interest include educational leadership and management, staff professional development, international cooperation, and teaching methodologies.

Milica Njegovan works as a Senior Program Office, Knowledge Management in the International division of Colleges and Institutes Canada. Over the last 10 years, she has worked extensively across the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa, partnering with government bodies, training institutions, employers, and communities on large-scale TVET reform projects.

Biography

Alain Roy currently holds the position of Vice-President, International Partnerships, at Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan). CICan is the national association and voice for more than 140 publicly funded colleges, cégeps, polytechnics and specialized institutes in Canada that reach more than 1 million learners per year in over 3,000 Canadian communities.

Biography

Katie Orr is the Director, NSCC International. Katie has over 20 years experience in international education, with universities, colleges and NGOs. Katie has served on Boards of Directors such as the Canadian Bureau for International Education, EduNova, and is currently on the International Advisory Committee of Colleges and Institutes Canada and co-chair of the NAFSA Canada Member Interest Group.
