Details

Sustainability is a key pillar of almost every university's strategic plan. Whether one is an activist or a cynic, there is no denying that we must treat our surroundings better. Moreover, our target audience, the students, are extremely environmentally conscious and care about doing the right thing. Yet while as a sector we tend to focus on large-scale initiatives, such as energy-efficient buildings and extensive waste reduction programs, we sometimes forget that there are a lot of smaller steps that each of us can take and that are perhaps even more impactful overall. And with Covid now seemingly behind us, airports around the globe are suddenly overwhelmed to the point never seen before. Some of that traffic is us, back on the road meeting agents and students face to face. How can we solve the problem? This session looks at the state of the affairs in HE sustainability right now both globally and in APAC, as well as discuss and analyse what the future may look like. The session also suggests many ideas of how each of us can individually contribute to a more responsible sector. Learning Objectives: • Better understand the sustainability situation in the HE sector globally and in APAC. • Learn about some truly impactful initiatives taken by various organisations across the sector, including institutions, grassroots initiatives and private providers. • Learn about what are the most impactful individual steps one can take in order to make the their institution as well as the sector as a whole more sustainable. Target Audience: Recruitment, Marketing, Leadership, SGDs Target Audience Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
