Details

Transnational Education has grown in student numbers and diversity of operations over the last 10 years. For example, the UK has over 250,000 students in TNE programmes across Asia in branch campus and partnership arrangements. For the institution who awards a TNE qualification - there remains the challenge of ensuring that the student experience is comparable to the one in the home campus. For governing bodies, quality assurance is an issue where the awarding country may not have jurisdiction in the local QA body. This presentation will focus on :- • Data on the student experience which compares the student experience at the home and transnational institutions. • How to approach the issue of quality assurance across borders and how to work effectively with institutions and host country agencies. • The practical experiences of a running a campus in Asia with a home campus in Australia and UK. The session will focus on the case studies of two institutions who have campuses in Singapore and Malaysia. They will look at the challenges of ensuring their courses are locally relevant and compliant, but also meet requirements of Australian and UK QA bodies as well as offering a global student experience for their students. Learning Objectives: • Understand the student experience in TNE campuses and how institutions use the data to understand and enhance their student’s experience • How to effectively manage QA issues with the need to report to both a local authority and meet th demands of the home campus • Gain insight into the challenges of running an overseas campus from two TNE leaders.
