Thai higher education institutions have been enthusiastic about SDGs, not only in terms of research or teaching and learning, but also the translation of knowledge for the betterment of the communities and the benefits of mankind. The workshop is co-organized by all major universities in Thailand, including Chiangmai, Chulalongkorn, Mahidol, Kasetsart, KMITL, Prince of Songkla and Thammasat University. Each will be showboating its SDG projects and how they have been addressed within socio-regional contexts, interlacing knowledge and expertise with the aim to solve issues and problems at macro-/meso-/and micro evels.
Under the contexts of SDGs, the workshop highlights what SDG is perceived as vital and aligned with higher education institutional missions, ranging from education to reduce inequality, conflict resolution and peace dialogue, innovation, energy for the community, food security, healthcare for all, life on land for the sustainable society so on and so forth. To a certain extent, these showcases help redefine the role of higher education institutions in Thailand in sharing social responsibility and contributing to a betterment of the society and an improved quality of life.
Learning Objectives:
1) to share good practices and the translation of knowledge being implemented in each university to solve community/regional/social problems based on the SDGs
2) to exchange ideas/thoughts among presenters and participants concerning the way in which:
2.1 the changing role of the university in knowledge translation to the betterment of the society;
2.2 practices being implemented in participants’ universities or their respective communities/societies;
2.3 lessons learned for future collaboration and food for thoughts or takeaway messages

Somporn Chantara started her work at Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University as a lecturer in 1994. After got her Ph.D. in 2000, her work is more focus on air pollution monitoring and analysis. Her most significant contributions are in the field of atmospheric chemistry particularly air pollution assessment for source analysis and health impacts. She published more than 80 papers in international journals and received more than 10 research grants from national and international funding organizations.

Asst. Prof. Dr.Passanan Assavarak is an assistant dean for research at the School of Liberal Arts, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. She graduated with her doctoral degree in Environment, Development and Sustainability from Chulalongkorn University. Her research areas focus on sustainable community development as well as marginalized and negatively affected groups by mines, coal power plants and factories. In 2022, she was one of the research team that was granted outstanding research award from the National Research Council of Thailand.

Padtheera is a lecturer and researcher who devotes herself to working by applying ethnomethodology research in Southern Thailand's peacebuilding since 2009. She holds a doctoral degree in integrated sciences from Thammasat University. According to the prolonged deadly violence in the deep south results in a deeply divided society, she is trying to weave a relationship between Buddhists and Muslims by employing the concept of Health as a bridge to peace and inspiring the religious actors to be close friends as "Interfaith Buddy for Peace".
