Details

NYCU collaborates with our two neighbor middle schools to assimilate our existing international resources into secondary education, creating a strong connection between foreign students and our local community, and at the same time planting the seed of globalisation in the minds of middle schoolers. Foreign students are invited to design courses and activities based on cultural sharing and SDGs, considering the different resources and backgrounds (rural vs urban) that the local students have. Topics such as Palestinian kufiya in Muslim countries, Vietnamese hand-made spring roll, gender equality, affordable and clean energy are introduced. In addition to encouraging the local students to interact with foreign students, through the above activities, local students can learn from the experiences of other countries and reflect on how they can contribute to the country or to the world in the future. Through this program, we take advantage of the international resources of the university to assist local students in building up the global perspective, and also build a close and friendly connection with the community and the world, and eventually to realize the university's social responsibility. Learning Objectives: • To understand how the Office of International Affairs integrates universities’ existing academic resources to design teaching materials and trial teaching process. • To learn how foreign students adapt themselves to cultural variation and to understand the differences of local students’ backgrounds to gain teaching experience and pursue self-growth. • To know how middle schoolers experience the world from the viewpoint of foreign students, and the influence on constructing their own international perspective. Target Audience: Staff of student support, student advice, and international collaboration, or who are interested in SDGs, USR, Glocalization Target Audience Level: Beginner
