Details

Covid-19 has hit international cooperation activities tremendously. Despite all difficulties, scientific liaison could be maintained by network-based collaboration. The ASEAN European Academic University Network (ASEA-Uninet) was founded in 1994 and consists of more than 80 universities from 18 different countries in South-East Asia and Europe. It aims at promoting continuous internationalisation of education and research through sustainable partnership and mobility. This includes academic formats such as joint research projects, PhD scholarships, excellence awards, initiatives in arts and music as well as exchange of experts. Universities work closely together in order to promote SDGs and mutual standards. Partnership is based on trust, academic proficiency and mutual respect. Joint projects are open to all academic fields with some underlying priorities in the different countries involved. In 2017, a sustainability chapter was opened in order to consistently focus on projects and mobility activities which aim at boosting awareness and support sustainable science and research. The speakers will elaborate on the structural background, explain how the work is being organised in a joint approach and show how different funding schemes (such as national funds from various countries as well as Erasmus+ international funds) are being efficiently used in order to achieve the common targets. Learning Objectives: • Participants will understand the principles of the ASEA-Uninet and how mutual scientific collaboration leads to the continuous development of learning, teaching and research at the universities involved – even despite difficult circumstances under Covid-19. • SDGs and sustainability initiatives as a core priority of the network will be presented by examples of good practise – both on project level and by activities from certain member universities which have initiated guidelines on sustainability for their international study and research activities. • The audience will understand the complementarity of various funding schemes which support the joint initiatives. In introduction of global funding opportunities from Erasmus+ will be given as well. Target Audience: The session will address staff in charge of strategic internationalisation at university level as well as project developers and everyone interested in the strategic design of university networks. Target Audience Level: Intermediate
