Many lessons have been learned over the past two years. As we return to in-person engagements, we are now beginning to integrate these learnings into our practice and create more innovative models for developing deeper, more meaningful and active partnerships, enhanced capacity building opportunities by utilizing technologies for students, Faculty, and practitioners alike. The presenters, who come from a government organization based in Canada (British Columbia Council for International Education) and two organizations housed at higher education institutions, one hosted in Canada, University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) currently hosted at Vancouver Community College and the other in Japan, the Institute for Global Education (IIGE), based at Kansai University will share best practices and examples of recent intentional partnership development approaches. Intentional steps for partnership development include: identification of shared interests and values related to sustainability goals, capacity building for Faculty and staff using technologies; and strategic in-person programming to enhance innovative curriculum delivery highlighting equity, diversity and inclusion. She has worked in international education for over 15 years and is deeply committed to developing strong partnerships across Canada and abroad. She is passionate about embedding equity and inclusion in all areas of her work.

Biography

Chelsey is the Director for the UMAP International Secretariat. She has worked in the international education field for over 10 years working in government and higher education institutions in Canada. She facilitates the delivery of student mobility and capacity building for Faculty and staff at UMAP member institutions across Asia and the Pacific.

Biography

Keiko Ikeda is a Professor in the Division of International Affairs, and KU-COIL Coordinator at Kansai University. Recently, she has taken the role as the principal project manager for the Inter-University Exchange Project funded by MEXT, 2018-2022 ("COIL Plus Program to Develop Global Career Mindset"). Keiko is Vice-Director for the newly established organization at Kansai University, Institute for Innovative Global Education (IIGE).
