Institutional Internationalisation is one of the utmost agendas for every Higher Learning Institution (HLI) around the globe to enhancing their academic and research quality and also sustaining their visibility and branding. This strategy is extremely important as the world has become more open and everyone in the HLI is in need to interact, working together and maintaining a sustainable partnership. One of the significant elements in internationalisation is visiting and meeting partners and potential partners from different countries to explore cooperation or sustain collaborations. However, the pandemic of COVID-19 has restricted traveling and visiting other partners abroad. Since early 2020, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has come out with an innovative and effective means as an alternative approach by introducing the Virtual International Engagement or VIE. VIE is a medium where we meet other partners in a well-planned time frame, ordered agenda, tailored presentation, and with specific focused objectives. To date, UTM has made VIE sessions with 100 HLI from 40 countries. In this session, I will share the experience of UTM in organizing the VIE, including the challenges and impacts of the activity in ensuring UTM could maintain its visibility and branding in the global world. Learning Objectives: After this session, the attendees will be able to • learn and practice the new, effective, and innovative approach of virtual engagements as shared by UTM in order to sustain or create new partnership. • use lessons learnt from experience-shared discussion during the presentation on the challenges and impacts of the VIE session in helping UTM maintain its visibility and branding. • provide diverse options to cater for new uncertainties in enhancing the international education sector. Target Audience: International offices of higher education institutions, academia, TNE, and students Target Audience Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
