Details

Transnational education (TNE) remains popular as a provision for internationally recognised education at the doorstep of students in their host country. For TNE to be effective, an intentional strategy is required for relevant educational delivery at the host campus. This presentation takes the perspective of a host partner institution in Singapore to show how a host partner adds strategic value to the educational delivery of TNE programmes. In addition to local contextualization of curriculum and pedagogy, the host partner provides a full spectrum of student support services, ranging from career advisory and coaching, job placement, professional development, and skills development for employability. To enhance graduates’ employability, the host partner offers micro-credential (MC) courses through its Centre for Micro-credentials to complement the home institution’s academic programme and to address skills gaps at the local job market. Outcome and competency-based MCs which are co-created with industries and professional associations to ensure their relevancy establish bridges between the academic system and the professional world. Digital learning platform is used to deliver them online to students while digital badges are issued for successful completion. The host partner also issues graduates with an e-Portfolio transcript which displays learning achievements not featured in traditional academic transcripts. Learning Objectives: • Practice for effective transnational education delivery at the host country • Planning, designing and implementing micro-credentials, digital badges, and ePortfolio transcripts • Developing globally competent graduates Target Audience: Staff who have responsibility for or play a part in delivering transnational education. Relevant job titles include: • Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) • Director of Global/International Partnerships • Head of Transnational Education • Head of International Partnerships • International Partnerships Officer/Manager Target Audience Level: Intermediate, Advanced
