The SDGs can only be realised with strong global partnerships and cooperation. A successful development agenda requires inclusive partnerships — at the global, regional, national, and local levels. This session explores how universities can accelerate the advancement of the SDGs through the development of key research, mobility, and educational partnerships. We will take a broad look at different types of partnerships Sydney, UC Davis and Edinburgh have developed for the purpose of addressing the SDGs. Sydney has developed 20 key global partnerships which are aimed at tackling the SDGs, this is supported by a range of activities and funding which serve as a catalyst for collaborative research, and opportunities for students. Similarly, Edinburgh has built much of its recent policy and strategy around the SDGs and conducts a range a teaching and research activities in conjunction international partners from U21 and other international networks. Partnerships are central to this SDG-related activity. UC Davis has pursued a range of partnerships with individuals, campus units, and other universities to advance the SDGs. These efforts include participation in global networks; consortia-building with international partners on SDG 2; partnerships with other universities; and piloting student learning opportunities through an SDG internship and SDG-focused summer course. Learning Objectives: • To learn about mechanisms by which senior international officers can play a leading role to help universities deliver impact in the context of tackling the SDGs by developing specific mobility and educational partnerships. • To understand the mechanisms by which partnerships can help universities to embrace the SDGs, and incorporate them in curriculum, research, and management • To see exemplars of good practice, where university partnership leaders have assisted academic and student communities in developing programmes and activities with demonstrable impact on SDG-related priorities Target Audience: Anyone involved in university policy on SDGs (e.g., environmental impact, global health.
